    General Comments (offer details, etc.)

e-mailed move up to see if eligible for bidding- opened up next day. Was on a sailing that got cancelled last year so had a 25% discount on booking & scored a Sunset Suite for a great deal so was doubtful they would also let us layer on move-up 😉

  1. We have an upcoming cruise in a Sunset Sky Suite #1403 on Eclipse. I could not find much info on the room besides some old passenger shared flicker photos that made it look great. However, I did see a couple reviews from 2017 that mentioned window washing equipment obscured the view. I love the location and they are sold out of our class of room moving not an option. Here's the silly question, if the window washing equipment a permanent feature or could it have moved since 2017? I am so bummed, I just realized that Eclipse was in my city in December & could have looked for myself!

Thank you! I sent an e-amil today outlining the bad communications, customer service, and hours and hours on hold. I asked(at the least) if we can have the 25% discount extended to a 2023 sailing and that they expedite the refund. I will let you know what (if if) I hear back!

Those contacts worked! Within  hours of e-mailing I got a call and by the next day, got the approval to apply the discount to a 2023 sailing. The Eclipse is getting the Retreat cabins renamed (adding Aqua Retreat/Sunset Sky Suite etc.) so that was a little confusing. Still 8-10 hours spend on hold that I won't get back but got the resolution I wanted.

  3. Does anyone have some good info on who I could send a letter to that would actually get read? The poilices changing every day (yesterday we were told we would have to pay extra $ for a downgraded Retreat room on another Alaskan sailing) My husband is a 1st responder nurse & has to request time off 3-4 months in advance so we could not rebook for another month and therefore lost the %25 discount since a refund was the only option.

I was hoping that maybe we could someone to approve the 25% discount applied to a 2023 Alaska sailing. I feel like that would be fair compensation for the stress & non-cruise $ we lost, but I may be out of line?

I am staring at the pile of winter gear we bought (we live in a state with warm weather) and just kicking myself.......

Wow, you had a very different experience than I did! I called Celebrity last night after learning my cruise had been cancelled. We booked another cruise, but after keeping us on the phone for 3 hours, they charged MORE than we had paid for the previous cruise without honouring the 25% discount. We called again this morning and this time they kept us on the phone for an hour. We were told that we would get a onboard cruise credit! We said that’s not what we want and that’s not what was offered, we were told by email that the next cruise (if booked by May 17) would be 25% off. So, now we wait and see if accounting will give us a refund. Really terrible experience.

My experience was very similar. I decided to cancel and get a refund since the only other sailing around the same dates would mean hauling our cookies to Seward.  We would pay more $$ for more travel and less of a room (we had done a move up to a Royal Suite). They promised me the refund would be on my credit card in 15 days (after I got a little teary when they said it would be up to 30 days). I have it on the calendar to dispute the charges in 15 days if no refund appears 😞 This whole thing has been hours and hours of phone calls & stress. I just called the travel insurance company to see about a refund and she said "that's a new one, I literally have never heard that reason for a cancellation of a cruise!"

  5. So safe to say I NEVER sailing Celebrity again if this is how they handle their own maintenance issues. the agents claiming the 05/22 sailing was not cancelled and then after reading the letter to them saying they can't apply the 25% discount offered and it needs to go to revenue and it can take "up to 14 days" to apply the discount when the sailing we want to change to is 14 days away.  I am now on 3+ hours on the phone disconnected twice and finally just asked them to cancel the whole thing. AND it's going to take up to 30 days for the refund to post to my card & will not see it in time to rebook anything for those datesd (I am not spending another penny until that $ is back in my hands).

  6. I am heartbroken we won a move up bid and this was DH's first big vacation post-covid (he's a nurse and needs to request time 3 months in advance so missing the whole season) I have been on hold and depending on how fast they can post the refund no time to get something else lined up. I am trying to not be mad, but this seems like something that was VERY preventable. Not to mention all the $ spent on winter gear  😞

  7. For the May 15th cruises, how early did X let you know about the change? We are on the 05/22 sailing and I need to cancel or change my (self booked) excursions about a week out to get any type of refund 😞 Ironically, I researched and found out who the vendor was & booked directly to save $ and help the struggling tour companies make the most profit. Now I am kicking myself as if I booked through X I could get a full refund!

  8. We're on the same cruise and won a move up bid. We talked it over last night and decided to go even though the chances of port time changes. We booked all our own excursions so I checked and as long as X gives us a little notice we can cancel or change the times. Though I will be super bummed if Juneau changes times to later in the day, we booked my bucket list glacier helicopter & dog sledding and no other times are available 😞 But, since we (or were going to be) the only ship in port I assuming a large % of people on the tour are from the boat and they might be open to changing the time.

Disappointing news. We are on the May 22 sailing, so awaiting word of changes. What is the point of even stopping in Ketchikan?  All aboard would be 4:30 so only 2.5 hours at most to explore?

We're on the 05/22 sailing too 😞 I wish I hadn't booked my own excursions in Ketchikan and Juno. I have a feeling ours will change too....

Congratulations! Which suite did you Move Up to from your Sky Suite?

Royal! And I am amazed since we got a killer guarantee suite deal last December so in the end we paid a fraction of what they're going for. FYI, I did confirm that if you did not have drinks etc. in your original package you do need to purchase them but you get the RS dining perks and bar setup etc.

  11. Update, I e-mailed the move up team & got a response within a couple days. We got it! Our original reservation was for a SS guarantee & we got placed in an accessible room, per the move up rep, they wanted to check first to make sure we did not need the accessible layout before changing. We are so excited, my husband is a nurse & this will be the longest break he's gotten in a couple years 🙂 We're staying extra diligent masking, distancing etc. on this cruise so we can (hopefully) stay healthy and enjoy every minute in this room as we know it's a rare treat!

  12. A couple question for those of you who used the Binax/e-med tests:

    • Where so I find the expiration date? I have looked all over the box!
    • Is the 2 days before boarding requirement 2 calendar days or 48 hours from your boarding time? We were planning on taking them the morning of our flight (about 4am) to avoid the stress of doing it in the airport or hotel. But that would mean technically it's 2 days,  but with a 11am boarding time will be over 48 hours.

    TIA!

  13. We had one bid expire & the other change to "pending" with no option to change or cancel for our 05/22 cruise. It has been that way for days. From what I have gathered, this is a good sign. But I won't believe it until the card charges! What is the longest you waited in that pending state? My husband is getting excited & watching youtube video tours of the possible room & I told him to slow his roll 🙂
