  1. Thank you both for that information. I was hoping you could do it the day before but if I have to rush up there the day of I guess I can do that as well. I just wanted to do it once on my upcoming cruise and not for the whole time. I heard the canal day was great but very pricey.

  2. I have read a lot about the sanctuary on the Coral but I did have a few questions. Can you only book for the morning or afternoon the day before you want it. So if I get on the ship today can I only book for tomorrow or can I stat I want to reserve it for three days from now? Also what is morning 9 -1 and afternoon 1 - 5? Is there anything else I should know about the Sanctuary? I have sailed many times on Princess but have never done the sanctuary and now after ready so much about it I would like to experience it at least once. Thanks -

  3. The Coral is one of my favorite ships. Try the International cafe for lunch and snacks. the pizza was also good.

There is good viewing thru the doors on upper passenger decks at the front of the ship.

They do a pub lunch that we always enjoy. Also enjoy the shows in the Universe Lounge but get to shows early for best seating.

Do they still have the pub lunch in one of the bars on the Coral?

  4. You and everyone else are Welcome, it's wonderful to be able to plan for your cruise ahead of time.

On the last sea day they did have the Pub Lunch in the Bayou Cafe, the other sea days they offered the "Crab Shack" for $20. pp. We didn't try it and we don't know any one who did, they never seemed busy when we would walk by the Bayou Cafe.

Thank you so much for the information.

  5. We are looking at doing an Alaska cruisetour. We did an Alaska cruise about 5 years ago but now want to cruise and then do Denali and Mt. McKinley.

Wanted to know if it is better to cruise first and then tour or the other way around? It seems less expensive to cruise first but didn't know if anyone had any suggestions about that. Also I have heard that the two two top places to see on the tour are Denali and Mt McKinley. Is that right? I heard there is not a lot to do or see in Fairbanks.

We are looking at booking throuigh Princess so should we get the airfare through them as well?

Thank you for any and all help and suggestions. I am sure it all will be very helpful.

Can anyone go to the Reflection beach? I did look at your attachment and wasn't sure if it was a private beach?

  7. As others have stated, there are definitely sidewalks.

Walking from the Hilton Marina will be fine.

This past December we actually walked back from the beach back to the Embassy Suites--a good hike, but in good weather, not bad at all.

I was wondering about that. How long of a walk is it from the Embassy to the beach.

  8. We were just there last week and had absolutely no safety concerns. If you are doing the Segway tour, I'd highly recommend you arrange taxi transportation through them to further reduce any concerns. His driver was outside the port area holding a sign with our names on it. Very easy. There were many pushy drivers inside the port area offering transportation that you'll need to get through.

Note that it is a fairly long walk from the dock to the port exit, around 20 minutes or so. You have to weave through a shopping area, mini-zoo, etc.

We had a great time on the Segway tour and would highly recommend it. Suggest you try to setup an early tour, since it will let you see all the major sites / plazas in the old city. Then after the tour, you can wander back on foot and spend some time at the ones you liked. Cesar was able to set up the return taxi at a later time so you don't have to rush off immediately after your tour is finished.

Thank you so much for all of the information. I really do appreciate it. We did a segway tour in Tampa a few years ago and loved it. I was just worried about the area but you have put my mind at ease. Thank you again. Have a great afternoon.

  9. It's hot, humid and rainy no matter when you go. That's why I loved being in the Sanctuary on Canal day: they had iced towels and ice water available all the time. Plus, the views of the Canal were amazing from there. You're high up so you can see so much more. People try to sneak in to get photos from there but are shooed out.

Pam, do they do something special in the sanctuary on the canal day? I thought I read that somewhere. Can you book for that day as soon as you get on the ship? Thanks.

  10. We are looking at doing the Segway tour as well in Columbia but wanted to know if you feel safe. I was worried about how safe you feel. Thank you for any replies regarding this.

  11. We had booked the segway tour for our upcoming cruise on the Coral but then backed out. I was a little scared to do something on our own at that port. I like the fact that you enjoyed it so much and would do it again. Did you feel safe in the taxi both ways and during the tour? How was it time wise? Getting there, the tour, back? Thanks for any information you can give me on the segway tour.
