I'm pretty sure the Carnival ship IS the Costa ship. Costa cruises is owned by CCL.

No, it was a Carnival brand ship, the Carnival Fascination. It went to Barbados, and the person was tested there for COVID-19. Came back negative, was the common flu.

I did fear that when the news of the DR broke yesterday. At this point, it seems as though the majority of ships being turned away are from Italy (Costa turned away from Tortola and St. Lucia, Mera from Grand Cayman and Jamaica). Then you have Braemer turned away from the DR due to people flying directly from Italy (at least that is what is being reported, I have not been able to fact check).

A Carnival ship was denied entry into St Lucia last week also.

I only use my NCL credit card for NCL related expenses. I am now on my FOURTH card because my account was compromised three times in about two years. It seems to have calmed down now, I've had this card for over a year, but it does seem there is a problem.

Interesting. I have the NCL card also, and am on my fourth or fifth one over several years. I use mine for NCL purchases, of course, but also use it for every day expenses.

Not sure what to say.  Yes, I am on the Epic.  I received 4 bidding offers:  Spa mini suite with balcony, mini suite with balcony, spa balcony, and balcony.  I have been on Epic a number of times, never had bid offer.  Have stayed in studio, inside, and balcony. I know nothing else about any other category.  CC members know far more than I about the bidding, and I appreciate all the input.  I don't know what else to tell you except what I was offered.  On to other things.....

That explains why you were able to bid higher than a regular balcony. Epic is the only ship, that I know of, in the NCL lineup, that does not have oceanview cabins.

Good luck with your bids! 🙂

No need to screen shot.  I just explained and wrote what I was offered to bid on.  Like I previously said, I am new to bidding, and really don't know the difference between mini, spa, etc.  If I made a mistake, sorry.    Again, I was offered:  spa mini suite with balcony, mini suite with balcony, spa suite with balcony and balcony.  What the difference is, I don't know, but I am happy to have been given the opportunity to bid.  Sorry if my prior posting was harsh, just not used to being  subjected to an interrogation.  My original reservation is for an inside cabin, no ocean view.  That's all I have to give for info.

Are you booked on the Epic? That ship has no oceanview cabins, so 2 categories would include balcony, spa balconies, and mini suites.

My wife and I are planning a cruise this August. We are looking at the MSC Seaside. But recently I saw that MSC has a dress code that states, no shorts or t-shirts in public areas after 6pm. How strict are they on this rule?

Not at all strict. We often change into shorts and t-shirts after dinner.

We have been searching for the problem since we were told of the port changes. I'm concerned if it is an azipod issue that they have not fixed that another similar problem could develop and leave us stranded. We are trying to figure out who to contact in the Coast Guard about arranging a ship inspection before we sail on Dec 6.  https://www.cruiselawnews.com/2019/11/articles/power-loss/norwegian-star-suffers-propulsion-problems/

On their corporate website, Norwegian Cruise Lines Holding Company, they have their "Vision, Mission and Values" statement, which includes the "value" of "flawless execution." Obviously, they are failing to honor that part of their values. http://www.nclhltd.com/vision-mission-and-values  After today's surprises, I read that mission statement and realize that it is worthless. Since the other companies in the holding company are Oceania and Regent, I hesitate to try them. The press on Oceania is good, and we had talked about using them to go through the Panama Canal, but given the parent company's attitude, I wonder if I should also avoid them in the future.

    1. Good luck with the Coast Guard. Pretty sure it won't happen, unless they already have scheduled an inspection. 🤣🤣
    2. The Star has 4 engines. It sounds like 1 engine is possibly out of commission, so they still have 3 good engines.
    3. The ship wouldn't be sailing if it wasn't seaworthy.
    4. With one engine down, the ship would not be able to go at top speed and still run the power needed for hotel services, like A/C. Therefore, it probably would not be able to get to South America in the time needed.
    5. ALL cruise lines have had to change itineraries. They have the right to do so. It's in the contract you agreed to.
    6. I agree with other posters. It sounds like cruising might not be for you.

So no land time?  On our honeymoon we stayed on Moorea before the cruise and Bora Bora after it.

I don't know whether we'd cruise if we went again, thought the Aranui 3 looks interesting.  Our last visit was land-only (Moorea and Bora Bora again) and very pleasant.  I'd like to try the Tuamotus and and spend some time exploring Tahiti beyond Papeete.

Yes, our land time is in Papeete. We may take the ferry over to Moorea, to spend more time there.

So you've enjoyed plenty of non-W* research.  🤓  May I ask which Islands?

We're doing a B2B, so some islands are repeats:

    Fakarava
    Rangiroa
    Taha'a x2
    Bora Bora x2
    Huahine x2
    Moorea x2
    Raiatea

I recommend doing both.  Best of all worlds.  Stay a while after flying all that way.

We're flying in a couple days early. We'll be there a total of 3 weeks. 😃

Ok, I have another question.  Aren't you glad i only have a day and a half left?

Anyone wear a tuxedo/long gown on the Sun 5 day cruise? We always do even on the short Carnival cruises and we're not alone but I want to know what happens on the Sun.

    Thank you!

I'm going to be on that cruise, and I am not bringing anything remotely close to formal. We rarely do with NCL anymore. With that said, go for it, if that's what you want to do! That's why we love NCL, there isn't really much of a dress code, with a couple exceptions.

I want to apologize to some on this thread for coming off insensitive.  It was not my intent but reading back my comments, I could see how some think they were.  Even though Dorian did not come ashore in Florida we suffer from what is called "cabin fever."  We spend days in long lines trying to secure gasoline and food.  We board up our houses then must make decisions if we stay or go.  Then we plot the storm every hour and the 24/7 endless loop of news about possible destruction can take its toll.  In a nutshell, we all go CRAZY. After one week, tomorrow things go back to normal.  The airports opened today and the kids go back to school tomorrow.  All of this stressed combined with drinking rum at night may have made me sound harsh.  I wish everyone the best and lets not forget the tragedy of the Bahamas.  Keep them in your thoughts and please contribute something to their plight.
    God Bless

Truth. Except tomorrow will be a repeat of today for us, just maybe not as windy. We're close to Port Canaveral. Kids go back to school Friday, I believe.

It's all part of the adventure. Be happy that you'll be on land soon and not circling around the Florida keys waiting for the hurricane to make its move (last report it was stopped).

It is still not moving. My heart really goes out to the people of the northern Bahamas. They are still getting hammered.
