If you're from out of town and sailing in this area, you may want to search for WPLG Channel 10, which is the South Florida ABC affiliate with great weather coverage.  It seems like Tuesday to Thursday are NOT going to be great days for the intended itinerary for Independence, Liberty & Freedom, that stop at Coco Cay and/or Nassau.  (Oasis by the topic of this thread must also fall into this category.)

Watching this morning, it looks like the storm track will take the path right over Coco Cay and just north of Nassau.

    Add Anthem to the list

  2. We are set to leave tomorrow for Florida and the Bahamas on Anthem.  I wish they would just re route us to Canada at this point.  The weather and seas are going to be terrible.  Just saw it’s probably going to be a tropical storm in the next few days.

Where else might they re route in a situation like this?  Do they always go north or is there a possibility we could go somewhere else in the Caribbean?

    That’s what I thought.

Anyone out there ever have it happen and want to share?

So now it says “expired” for 2 of my Royal up choices.  It says “pending” for one of them.  Maybe there’s hope?  Looks like they’re moving on decisions.

The cruise line states that they can notify you as late as two hours after the ship departs. You can possibly be in your room and then be moved at that time to the upgrade room unless you cancel before they accept your bid. Once they charge your credit card and accept your bid, you have no choice.

I just received that kind of notice. “We’re still considering your bid and it may happen up until sailing…”.  Does anyone ever really get the upgrade that late or is just RCL covering “just in case” they have an unexpected open cabin come up?  Our cruise leaves Sunday and I’m wondering if we should really not unpack in our original cabin until we sail just in case they do upgrade us.  We bid on 3 balcony categories that are still showing “submitted”.

Method 1. If you have an Apple device, add your set sail pass to your Apple wallet. Numbers will now appear under your bar code. The numbers after the dash represent your cabin.

Method 2. Scan the bar code with a QR scanner from another device and that should also show you the numbers.

NOTE: If you see "GTY" instead of numbers, you truly haven't been assigned yet. One tip off is that if you don't see a muster station on your set sail pass then you almost definitely don't have an assignment yet.

It looks like we are assigned according to the “trick”. Deck 3 by the casino.  Looks like a connecting cabin too.  Fun fun fun.  Oh well, this is the risk you take with a GTY.  At least it’s basically midship and low. Not a bad deal in November during hurricane season in the Atlantic.  We shall bring a very loud sound machine🤪.  I lived below the water line in a tiny inside cabin when I worked on ships; actually loved the sound of the waves hitting the walls as I fell asleep in complete darkness.

Was just able to figure out my GTY Balcony on Radiance of the Seas cruise using the bar code trick and not sure I like the location (Cabin 7644).  May have to up my bid or ask to be relocated in the same category.

What is the “bar code trick”?  I’ve got a GTY ocean view cabin booked for a November 6th cruise on Anthem.

So @3kidsncats, would you be so kind as to post the peer-reviewed scientific studies that prove this point?  No generalizations please and no "CDC says" because they have been on both sides of the debate.

I'm happy to post my references here (https://www.technocracy.news/masks-are-neither-effective-nor-safe-a-summary-of-the-science/) that summarizes numerous peer-reviewed studies which collectively conclude "face masks were found to have no detectable effect against transmission of viral infections."  And note the specific studies are cited in each of the collected reports so you can dig down to read the specifics of each study and the conclusions of the respective science teams.  In one of those studies that focused on the use of the most common disposable surgical masks, you know the kind you buy in packs of 100 from Walmart, they conclude "Disposable medical masks (also known as surgical masks) are loose-fitting devices that were designed to be worn by medical personnel to protect accidental contamination of patient wounds, and to protect the wearer against splashes or sprays of bodily fluids (36). There is limited evidence for their effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure."

I look forward to reviewing your countervailing list.  From my perspective, the studies support the conclusion that mask wearing, particularly after being vaccinated, is 'feel-good science' AKA "theater."

Well, we definitely agree on this one.

Just great! 🤢 I need to schedule my first Shingrex vaccine since I’ve never had it before. After reading your comment and others I am absolutely dreading it. Why does it hurt so much? 💉

I have a friend who developed dementia immediately following the shingles vaccine.  She was sharp as a tack before that vaccine.  Be careful.

It’s a while since I posted here to say I was participating in the Johnson & Johnson trial in the U.K. I found out today that I had been given the vaccine, not just saline solution. I am so buzzed up about it!
In the U.K. the J&J vaccine is a 2 jab process. After the 1st jab I was sure I had been given saline as I had no side effects. After jab 2 it was different. 12 hours later I felt shivery, muscle pains and a headache. But that was very short lived. When I woke up next morning I felt normal.

We have 3 cruises booked now, but not until September 2022.

Good luck with getting your jabs and let’s hope we can enjoy our cruises mask free.

So if a yearly jab is required to maintain immunity, I guess the unvaccinated who have had the virus will need to catch COVID annually to maintain theirs.  🤢

When you have ANY virus you are immune from that particular strain forever.  Remember getting measles?  You can’t get it again.  Chickenpox?  Can’t get it again.  The only way you get a virus a second time is if it mutates.  Just like the flu which is also a virus like “Covid”, there are and will be seasonal variations. The “required” vaccines will never end, especially now since they have everyone scared out of their minds for a virus that has a 99.8% survival rate.

  11. IF the cruise lines ever start up again (which doesn’t look good) get ready for many more cuts than just straws.  I’m sure they’ll be cutting back on everything.  They’ve lost billions of dollars and are continuing to bleed.  I’m sure most options that were “standard” prior to the shutdown will either cost extra $ or will not be available.  Cruising will never be the same, sadly.  I think we’re going to see more and more ships heading to the scrapyard the longer this nonsense drags on.

The hostel is a newer update since I posted.  That is where they are going now.  He is convinced it is a set up to quiet him.  No way to know what is really going on.  Not being able to communicate with the outside world seems cruel.  At least they will be together as long as they are symptom free.  Being separated was his biggest fear.

Apparently according to this article they are now under the authority of Japan and will not currently be evacuated with the other “negative” passengers that are on the ship.  They will probably have to recover and test negative first.

Not sure how they could stop them though. They can put them in quarantine, sure. But not allowing your own citizens into the country?

I guess the issue is if they develop symptoms they will not be allowed to travel and will be placed in a Japanese hospital for who knows how long.  If the person is asymptomatic they have to be released from a “Japanese ordered quarantine”.  I think the USA govt.  worked out a special deal with the Japanese to have the US passengers released on the chartered planes.  Otherwise if you don’t go now, you are subject to the Japanese quarantine laws.

Except that the State Dept. has said that if they don't return to the U.S. on this chartered flight, they're not going to be allowed back into the U.S. any time soon.

I would jump on that flight for sure!   I’d rather be in my home country for quarantine (language, medical care, food etc.). This is going to be a long story for a lot of people.
