  1. I would strongly suggest not using the ship's computers. I once forgot my laptop on a cruise on the Coral. It took me almost 30 minutes to try and check my e-mail. I then remembered I had my iPhone [emoji33] and checked my e-mail for the rest of the cruise with my phone. I could compose and read e-mails offline and checking my e-mail with my phone usually takes 2-4 minutes at most. I don't surf the web much when on cruises so I can't compare speeds.

This is a great tip IECalcruiser. You can log on your phone, download your emails, and then log off. Take some time and reply to all of them offline and they stay in the outbox. Then log back on for a few moments and they send. You can do all your emails while only actually being online for 1 or 2 mins.

  2. I've seen a few threads touch on this but I wanted to just ask everyone....I'm about to do the Regal Princess in the Baltic and I would be using a combination of SPB and Alla tours as well as one or two Princess tours as well. We are bringing our 2 year old. Last summer we brought him to the Mediterranean but we did only ship tours on the big busses so we didn't need a car seat. Will we be ok with these smaller tours in places like Oslo, Talinn, and Helsinki with no car seat?

  3. The only place we used a car seat was in St. Petersburg. I guess I'd seen too many Russian driving videos on youtube. We did have a private tour - and yes I would second the recommendation for that. We could take our time, stay extra time at places that interested us, etc. Just common sense really. I can't remember exactly how much we paid but it was the same rate that was on their website. It was a mini coach that seats probably 10; we did the private tour with friends so there were 5 of us plus the guide and driver.

At the other ports we did use a stroller, though Estonia was particularly difficult in the old town. In Germany we did not go to Berlin (too long a day) but instead rode the Molli steam train, which was good fun. We did a ship's tour for that and rode in a coach, no car seat required.

Copenhagen was great, on that trip we visited the city for 4 days before the cruise started. Lots and lots for a toddler to do, from the science museum to Tivoli, the Roundtower, the aquarium (the architecture was impressive but I wasn't overly impressed by the actual aquarium). - and it is so easy to get around there. The Copenhagen card is well worth the money.

In four weeks we are flying south and doing a two week BA - Santiago cruise around the horn. Our son is now 4.25 and is very keen to meet penguins.

Hi there, I just viewed your world map! I thought I had been to alot of countries but not even close!

I am about to do Princess' Baltic cruise and I hadnt thought about a car seat for any of our tours. Is this ok? We're looking at using SPB, Alla, and Princess tours. Do I need to be bringing a seat? My son will just be 2 when we go in May. Thanks for the help!

  4. LoveyHowell,

If you did not have another spa to go to, yes, you should get a refund. There are other choices. There are other dining alternatives on the ship. You are not making an apples to apple comparison.

Also, there is a big difference between $20 and $200.

Yes, they screwed up. As popular as the Margaritavilles are on land, they should have made it ala carte from the beginning. Demand in a fixed area was easy to foresee. Their fault is in trying to make in complimentary at the outset and poorly managing expectations.

I couldn't agree more with this. They screwed up from the jump.

  5. We booked 11700 for a February sailing and are considering the Supper Club for "date night". Would love to see a menu and pics of a forward ocean view family cabin!

AND... Thank you for sharing all the pics and info on this gorgeous ship! We are thrilled beyond compare now!!! :D

I will be in 10700. Did you ever find any pics?

  6. That does seem weird! I'm holding out hope that there will be at least a comedy show that night.

This is such a clever move on their part. Two days at port and then a long night before a sea day....everyone is going to want to go out that night and with no shows they will all spend spend spend. I would expect the Tortola nights to be super busy ship wide. Everyone will be out and about.

  7. I have literally seen Europe cruising. I'm taking my 3rd next year. While you are only in each city for 8 hours or so, the excursions really give you the must see highlights. There is no way I could've seen all the countries in Europe I have seen on the 2 cruises I've taken and done it cheaper...unless maybe hostels. I highly recommend cruising as the best way to see Europe specifically. My wife can't stand cruising the Carribean but she can't wait to cruise Europe because you see so many countries in such a short time. Our last cruise, 4 countries in 10 days. Our one prior to that, 6 countries in 10 days and our one next year, 7 countries in 10 days. While you do sacrifice a bit on time in some places, you gain back so much in the ability to see so many places so affordably and quickly.

  8. Hi I am looking to book to tAKE MY 17 AND 20 YEAR OLF SON ON THE EScape in the summer but wondered if NCL (like RCI) do meet ups for 18-21 year olds or he will be bored

    many thanks

There's no way he will have issues meeting people. But registering in the first day for the singles group is a good idea. Like the others said, your roll call will be able to help.

  9. Definitely, I´m trying to post pics too. First ones might be available Thursday night. She´s supposed to arrive past 11 pm on Thursday. Not sure whether my camera (or my phone) can snap pix in the middle of the night.

Freestyle, I´m following you ;) (as for Instagram, as for the Escape you´re following me)!

More photos will follow at least a week later on my website but on the Anthem and the Quantum I returned with app. 1,800 pix from a two night cruise. That´ll take a litte time to sort and get them online.

    steamboats

    What's your site?

  10. I set up an Instagram account, the idea is to post some filterless pictures on the go, I expect to have 4G/LTE acces on my phone in Hamburg. People from the roll call for my sailing seem to be doing live reviews, etc.

I probably won't try to get the Instagram source code of the pics, copy that, add the image tags to link/show them in this thread so hoping someone else will do that for me, feel free to plunder my uploads on Instagram. ;)

I just followed you! Thanks for the update.

Do you know if anyone will be using Periscope? I guess I can jump on your roll call and ask....

  11. Excuse me if this has been discussed, but do we know if it is going to be Glow or White Hot Night? I have my angel halo, white boa and feathered wings. I haven't been on a Glow cruise. I started buying glow stuff, but I have to admit, I like White Hot better. Since there are no fireworks, maybe it will revert back. Just hoping.

I've only ever done white hot. What's glow? Like neon outfits?
