  1. I've booked the transportation, only, for the Orlando excursion. We only plan on going Downtown Disney. From reading the description, it sounds like I will have to take a bus to one of the parks and then go downtown. I'm ok with this as I've been to Disney many times and understand the transportation system.

My question is, is there only one time for pickup to take us back to the ship? I'm wondering if I should plan dinner downtown or if we will have time on the ship. I am planning lunch and, of course, a ghiradelli sundae!

You say you've been to Disney many times and understand their transportation system. I am not 100% convinced you do. ;)

There are no buses from the parks to DTD. To get to DTD from a park you would have to take a bus/monorail/boat to a resort, and then from the resort to DTD.

Disney stopped buses from DTD to parks many years ago to avoid guests parking free and hoping on a bus to the parks.

The travel time from any park to DTD I would plan at least 1 hour unless you want to take a cab.

  2. sorry, I mis-spoke; that photojournal is train vs car.

Still, the photos may help. You didn't indicate the age of your kids, but perhaps that will be a factor .... are they at an age where they might do better in a car so you can stop if needed to let them burn off energy?

Nah, They are 11 and 13... They are happy with their tablets and music!

  3. We are looking at a bus tour to the Yukon Border. We are a family of 4.

It will cost close to $300.

I can get a rental car for substantially less.

Is there a big benefit to taking the Bus Tour? Is there really a lot of value added information that I'd miss out on if I did it on my own?

  4. I posted this on the west coast departure board as well... just curious, maybe you guys can lend more insight to NCL's disembarkation process.

We will be on NCL in August, our cruise ends in Seattle at 8:00 am.

I understand the disembarking process can be tedious.

Is it reasonable to book at 12:30 departure out of Seattle airport? We will have to get there on a Saturday from Pier 66.

  5. Are you staying in Seattle the night before the cruise? Lots of things to see and do near the Port of Seattle.

There is a commuter train link from the airport to the downtown area. Seattle is built on a series of hills similar to San Francisco. The Port of Seattle terminal is located at Pier 66 at the bottom off Bell Street on the northern edge of the waterfront area.

We are staying in Seattle the night before, possibly a couple days before.

  6. We typically arrive at 11:30am-12pm so we can put luggage in the room and go get some food. When we took Jewel sailing out of Seattle last year, we took the train to downtown Seattle and then walked like a mile to the port. That was a pretty nice exercise despite the luggages.

Ooooooh, info please.... Train from? How much did that cost?

  7. I have 16 cruises to date. I just invited a "new" friend to cruise with me and she is excited beyond words. I told her everything I could think of, answered her questions and then gave her the cruise critic and ncl websites for further information.

I would hope everyone here would make her feel welcome. I would hate to dampen someone's excitement like that.

Everyone here remember their first cruise?

Just send here to the new to cruising page on NCL, I am sure it has everything she needs to know.

I am joking by the way
