Has anyone NOT been able to find out the location of their upgraded cabin before accepting offer?  From what I’ve read on here, it seems everyone was able to tell the exact cabin they were getting for the upgrade before accepting the upgrade.

There is no longer a matter of "accepting" it or not. If you submit a bid and it is accepted, your credit card will be charged immediately.

Again, thanks for updates. I expect initial application will take longer than renewal. We return from Quebec on Sep 30 this Fall and have a one-and-a-half-hour transit in Newark. Seems too short for Customs, TSA etc. so hoping Global Entry will work. The alternative is an extra four hour wait in Newark.

If your connection is anything like ours, 1 1/2 hours is certainly not long enough. If it takes your luggage as long to get you as ours did, it will, in fact, be impossible.

  3. I am on the Regal now (and have been for the 2 prior weeks). I think “she” looks quite good but I am not one that goes around looking for a little rust here or there, a small stain on the carpet, or a smudge on the mirror that might not have been wiped off in the last 30 minutes. I find a crew that appears to be working very hard to make the passengers happy and think they have succeeded quite well in my opinion.

I have encountered quite a few of the workers to be from the Ukraine. When you consider most of them to still have family in the Ukraine (or family that has migrated to Poland), they still put a smile on their face and do everything in their power to make everyone’s cruise as pleasant as they humanly can. Of course, I see people being rude to the staff and complaining about things, but they are probably those that complain ALL THE TIME about something and the Good Lord himself could not make them happy.

If you get on the Regal and expect to have a great time, you will. However, if you get on and try to find things to complain about, I am sure you can find those things also. As is true of life, IT IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT! I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 23 days of being on the Regal.

When is its next cruise scheduled? We are due on board May 21st in Barcelona provided our Covid tests are negative. I wonder if dry dock might overrun.

We board in Rome for B2B2B2 21 day cruise next Saturday, so guess we will the first cruise after a 2 week drydock.

You can get euros on board,  but the fx rate is awful. Either buy some before you leave, or use an ATM at your first port.

And the crew will be happy with either € or $.

You are SO RIGHT about the exchange rate on the ship. I have not been on one lately but do remember right before cruising shut down for Covid, the rate was horrendous. If AT ALL possible, order them before you leave the US from your bank or get at an ATM once you arrive. I just ordered some from Bank of America yesterday for our 5/7 cruise.

Looking forward to hearing some good positive things.  We'll be on the Ruby in August and just about all I've read so far has been everyone's sick, long lines, it's a rust bucket, food is horrible etc.  I hope you are all able to enjoy your cruise.

For some reason, more people want to post the negative than the positive. I personally thank the Good Lord above that I am able to take a cruise and will enjoy it. It might not be perfect, but most people in the world would gladly change places with me while on the ship.

  7. I could not agree with you more. Most of these employees work long hours, on their feet for many hours at a time, all the while, trying to please everyone they come in contact with. Most of us would certainly not do their job for what they make. I agree with you when you say "what is the matter with some people". Kindness goes a long way during these trying times.

Wow, thanks for the info. We have never sailed on princess but have booked sky princess in the autumn of next year. Looks like we shall cancel now even though it means loosing our deposit as it sounds as though they have gone the same way as P&O and cheapened everything. Oh well back to the expensive lines!!

  9. I never leave home without mine. However, it might be on it's "last leg". I like the wind blowing in my face, but really like it for the noise. Helps drown out some of the noise rude passengers make when they allow their doors to slam shut or they decide to shout at someone down the hall. SO,  if you have a brand that you travel with that is loud, I would really appreciate you sharing the brand name with  me.
