  1. Your post underscores that the level of risk via covid is obviously not even distributed and each of us need to assess the cruise go/no go decision and if we decide to cruise what mitigating measures we will take (if any) when on the ship and at the ports of call. No one size fits all and unfortunately, we need to make these decisions without perfect knowledge of the potential consequences.
  2. I agree for the exact reasons; I want to mitigate the odds of contracting Covid and the ensuing enforced isolation thereby ruining the vacation experience. Everyone needs to assess their own tolerance level and I will take the precautions to protect myself (other passengers can do as they deem fit).
  3. I don’t need or want your suggestions chief. Over and out Denny.
  4. I think you meant every day. I prefer more data then less and will make my decisions accordingly. Number of cases, how the line handles the situations, how many people get Covid post cruise are all data points that are useful to me. If this is not relevant to you then there is no reason for you to comment l.
  5. Yes asymptomatic, thanks for the correction. The cruise lines do not have to do anything different as everyone goes into this with eyes wide open and has to make their decision to cruise or not cruise and if they choose to cruise take whatever mitigating measures they feel are prudent (this is true if the Covid rate is 0.3% or 3%).
  6. I did not state the cruise lines are "hiding" the Covid infection rates but it's an understandable business practice not to publicly announce the numbers as they have nothing to gain. What I am saying is passengers may or may not inform ship personnel if they have mild symptoms that may be Covid plus common-sense dictates that there are a number of people on the ship (as everywhere) that are asystematic and we know from these Boards that there is also a number of passengers that become systematic after disembarkation. Therefore, it is logical to infer when you take all these factors into account the actual Covid rate is higher than the ship is reporting but by definition they would have no way of knowing.
  7. Though I can certainly understand from a business perspective why Celebrity (or any cruise line) would want not to disclose the true amount of active Covid cases amongst passengers and crew it would certainly be beneficial to those already booked on future cruisers and those considering booking a cruise. I am skeptical of the 1% figure that has been referenced as there is no real way of knowing who has and has not reported, who is asymmetrical and has no idea they even have Covid and how many came down with Covid immediately post their cruise. I am booked on a cruise at the end of June and as of now still plan to go but obviously if actual data was available, we could all make a more informed decision. If nothing else following the posts on here has heightened my awareness and will impact my behavior on board and at ports of call.
