See you on Discovery on 29 october:)
Stevie:)
Looking forward to our first transatlantic. Love the Caribbean and Celebration too.

I agree with what has been said above with Fred. We had our first Fred to Baltics on Braemar and loved everything. Booked Norway winter on Fred as we too want to explore more of Norway. We still love Thomson though, so choose what we want to do by itinerary.

I got an e-mail to print off the e-ticket from TA, but printer down so TA printed them for me, and gave me a date to go in to have boarding cards printed which I got on Sunday, got dollars today so we are all set now for next Sunday.

Glad I didn't know about the violence when I went over as I wandered round outside the port area in Coxon on my own as Ray couldn't get a tender in January. Kids in a very poor area in town were offering to take me on a walking tour and I went to the shore outside the port area and sat on a log form a while.
-
On our cruise Jan 15 we were due to dock at Mahogany but ended up dropping anchor and going by tender to Coxon. Don't know if that was a one off or not.

I tend to leave my other half in bed and get up when daylight is showing on TV which we leave on the bridge camera at night so I won't miss the sail in to anywhere, especially Kotor and Venice, or any islands when in the Caribbean, which usually means I am up around 6am, but to me it is one of the nicest parts of the day wandering round, having a cuppa, watching the sun rise, watching a sail in. Quoted time is usually docking time.

I spent ages looking round What's in Port and Akureyri was the only one I found yesterday. I was checking all the Fire and Ice ports. Great to know they are coming in now. Wonder where she will be departing from. We went from Harwich a couple of years ago.

We were in Koper May 2014 and didn't book a tour so wandered in ourselves. There was a small market set up, a bit like our car boots to be honest, and I got a brilliant handbag there for 10 euros and have been trying to find another like it ever since. Wandered round and found a bar with wifi, then nearer the ship sat outside at a bar where Ray had a drink while I enjoyed a scrumptious pancake with honey and ice cream. Went back on board, and I nipped out later for a paddle. Quiet pleasant place.

Never really thought about it, but just checked my current ones.
Celebration January, I have posted 6 of the 7 on there.
Fred March, I have posted 7 of the 13 on there.
Discovery October I have only got my inital post on there, but it is early.
There was some activity and advice on my Cruise Maritime mini cruise December though.

Happy New Year and make it another year to remember, for all the right reasons.
-
Hi Gill yes a big squiffy but understandable with just a couple of weeks to go before that lovely sunshine & beaches. Happy new year everyone
That reminds me, must get another case, perhaps a bit bigger than the last one. Need something to check in don't I.
Where this thread started, we have had port changes, but I am now at the stage where I just love cruising. It would be helpful if they would all sing from the same hymn sheet so to speak though, and even better, let the customer know of any changes before sailing. We have had a letter on the bed in the cabin when getting on Board to tell us of a port change before, but have not let it spoil our cruise. 16 nights!!!!!! Bring it on.

Flip a coin, best of 3.
Sorry - I'm a bit squiffy after a good day out. Day 12 sounds interesting, and one of them will be right.

We did our Cruise Maritime Magellan mini cruise from Tilbury a couple of weeks ago, and didn't fancy crossing London to Fenchurch St for the Tilbury train, so went to Gravesend instead (easy walk Euston to St Pancras) and got a B&B there the night before. There is a ferry that drops you right in front of the cruise terminal, but it is dodgy if the ferry is cancelled. We shared a £60 taxi, but someone else got one for £35 and someone else found they put a reserve ferry on later. Ferry back was only £2 each - big difference. Would do Tilbury again though.

Is the pool on the Thomson Majesty heated?
Not when we were on her. The only heated pool I have found was on a Fred Olsen cruise ship. Still great for a swim though.
-
That was happening to me but I was told to use .com at the end instead of .co.uk and it is fine now.
-
Well done, Gill. Wish my Ray was as keen to cruise as yours. Merry Christmas and take care.
Thanks. Have a good one too. Couldn't resist while the drinks package was free, and will accept whatever weather we get.
-
It is something else we had on the bucket list. A friend is doing one now for a month with Saga, and he is getting free wifi so we are getting his reports and as he is going from and back to Southampton he will have a lot more sea days, and he is having a great time.

Went to TA today and booked the transatlantic for 29.10.16. Free drinks package too. Really happy!!
-
I didn't wait. We were out to the hospital this morning to get my sling off the broken arm at last, and made the decision to go for it, so went to TA and don't mind paying the £25 to get the price matched, like to pop in to talk to them and they are helpful printing tickets etc. Very much on a high as I too love the Caribbean islands. This is the first time we have got the free drinks package, so will do some sampling on the 6 sea days. Really happy to be cruising on the last of the current fleet we hadn't been on too. No longer worried.
Ray says a hurricane would be something else to tick off the bucket list. Hmmm. Wonder what else he has on there. Don't mind warm rain in the short sharp showers over there.
-
We are seriously considering booking Tropical Escape on Discovery from 29.10.16 but my only concern is the weather.
I thought hurricane season was before Christmas sometime so have googled it, and it comes back as officially June 1 to Nov 30 with peak months Aug, Sept and Oct. Dream went out 19.12.15 and Celebration on 5.11.15 so it is possible it has all calmed down by the time they get over there.
Can anyone who has done one of the repositioning cruises to the Caribbean let me know what the weather was like please?
Cheers.
Gill.

We have a similar decision problem for October 2016 as I really fancy Discovery Tropical Escape. I thought it was not on the web page but had put Caribbean in instead of Western Mediterranean, but we have not done a transatlantic before and would like to try the experience. At the moment, the drinks package is free too.
My worry about this one is the weather. I thought it could be a bit stormy in the Caribbean October / November. Does anyone know what to expect?
-
I thought Oct 2016 wasn't on the website and wanted to check the 15 night transatlantic, but had to put destination as Western Med not Caribbean, and it came up. Really fancy that one, 29 October, but isn't that the bad weather season? Never done transatlantic before and fancy having a go.

We had our own agenda for both Amsterdam and Antwerp, and did research on one or two drinking establishments for some fantastic beers in both countries.

Sorry about that. We are frantically trying to get sorted for Celebration next Sunday, and I had a senior moment!! Looking forward to Discovery, but we haven't booked a cabin, will be where they put us on deck 2/3.
