Enjoy the Marco Polo Julie. We have just got back from 3 nights on CMV Magellan and had a fantastic time. Loved the layout of the bar areas, and we were upgraded to an outside cabin with picture window. Loads of room. Some things similar, some different and we thought more like Fred than Thomson, but a very enjoyable experience, and wanting ex UK we would be happy to go on another.

I think they said Ross will be on Marco Polo. I will be exploring and taking photos as I am excited about trying a new line, even if only for 3 nights. I will enjoy myself though.

Just wait till you get the sun on it in the Caribbean next month that should speed up recovery :)
Hoping to be swimming again by then. Bring it on. So many sunny beaches to come!!!

We went from Dover on Braemar and caught a train to Euston and find it easier just to walk to St Pancras for the Dover train rather than play with the underground. At Dover there were taxis outside the station and we shared with a lady also going on the cruise. £8 total taxi fare.
Our problem is trying to find out if there are lifts at underground stations. I had to pull 2 cases as Ray was on 2 sticks, and trying to jump onto a fast moving escalator with 2 cases terrified me as I need to get a hand on the rail getting on it myself.
A chap with a buggy gave us a lift last time when he saw us struggling and we found we can book assistance, so did for journey back from Dover, and the buggy took us to our train before the hoards knew the platform number, they took cases on board and showed us to our seats. We have booked this service for our next one now.

I fell off a high kerb in Chertsey when we were down there with the caravan last month. It is nearly at the end of the 6 weeks in a sling, but I won't be able to manage dressing up for formal night. Only taking 1 case down as with Ray on 2 sticks and me in a sling we are a bit crocked. Only 3 nights, but we will enjoy them, and I will be exploring and reporting.

Thank you. I had been worried sick as the tickets haven't arrived by post yet and just got an email from Planet Cruise with them tonight. We go down to a B & B Tuesday so unless post brings them tomorrow I will have to go to a library to print the ticket as I have to take it. Good news is our guaranteed inside cabin has become an outside one with a picture window. Getting into holiday mood now. Will explore and let you know what I think of Magellan, but with a broken arm photos may be limited - will try though.

I want Sunderland to stay up. This is getting to be an annual event for me, the same as wanting Hartlepool to stay in their league.

We always find free wifi in a bar when we go ashore. Never tried the ship after hearing it was expensive and unreliable. Happy to sit with wifi and a drink people watching.

Sorry to hear you were not well Linda and hope you are feeling better now. Always sad to find a cruise not up to expectations, but with your experience I am sure you will pick yourself up, dust yourself down and find another cruise to look forward to.

I would certainly make sure you have it on paperwork and take it. We had normal booking on board credit allowance, and it was not shown on our statement. I always ask for one on our second day to check these things. Reception said there was no record of it, but gave me it when I showed them the paperwork to prove entitlement. Good luck, and have a great time.

Not cruise related, but hope you are following BBC's sprout adventures between programmes when they bring up what is on next.

A lot of folk who won't drink cruise tap water are happy to drink the water from the buffet restaurant machines, and I was told on one cruise that it is just chilled tap water!

Thanks Brenda for the lovely review. Dream was our first love, and we always like to know she is doing well. Enjoy looking up your Majesty and Spirit options.

I can do the first half from Birmingham, but if I want the second half I would have to fly from Gatwick.

The cruise we are booked for on Celebration in January was showing hand luggage 5kg. Today it is showing 7 kg, so thank you. Great to see someone has started making corrections to the site.

I spent an hour waiting in our TA while she tried to find the repro cruise, and she had to ring head office. I think they were just putting them on, I was too early. She said the repro cruise was 25 days, and should be on line even though she couldn't bring them up. Brochures having printer problems but should be out 10 December.
Since coming home, I have now found the 2 halves of the repro cruise on their site, but not able to link them for a 25 day one like she said. Looks good, but don't think I want to risk booking this early, despite the drinks being all in.

I have been looking at Celebration Transatlantic quest in April. I last checked the price before the new website, but checking it now is not too bad to work through, apart from trying to understand the price breakdown column at the end. The one on the old site was lovely and logical, the new site doesn't seem to have any logic to it at all. All in was £360 for the 18 nights, but is now showing at over £900 so I can forget that one. Will keep an eye on the cruise though. Fancy a transatlantic one way or the other.

ps anyone else keep being asked for password again and again when trying to post ?
Stevie
I have been. Seems to come on for a spell where I get asked dozens of times a day, and then goes back to being ok again.

Thinks, the conversation went " we don't need cruise only because we don't cruise from the UK anymore"
Now I can easily believe that taking the UK ports off lead to cruise only going off the new site. Really bad planning or complete lack of thought.

No alcohol included, but you can have tea, coffee, water and fruit juices included with breakfast, and all except the fruit juice for the rest of the day in the buffet. Enjoy your cruise - we love the Dream.

Thanks for all your efforts most appreciated😀
Ditto..

Finally they include a nice link to check baggage allowances.Unfortunately the link is outdated and doesnt work.:mad:
Because of the 5kg "glitch" on the website I went onto my e-mail for January to hit the baggage link, and mine doesn't work either. Must be the same as the transfers, something they cannot put right.

Even more confusing is the hand luggage shown as 5kg. Someone on FB has posted a reply to their query at Thomson saying that cruises still get 7kg. Someone else has been told existing bookings get 7kg, new bookings get 5kg, and my TA says cruises have always had 5kg.
We know airports have queried the weight before, but accept that it should be 7kg when shown the paperwork.
For those curious about Magellan

Report.docx
Not sure how to do this so hope it works. I can copy paste if it doesn't.
Some asked for a report so I have written a word document and attached it so those who want it can see it. I really enjoyed the mini cruise. Forgot to put disembarkation on my report. Cases got put out for midnight and taken off ship, and they called you out by case label colour, but if you took your own case off, you could leave once the ship had clearance which we did, and 5 minutes from the berth we were on the ferry back to Gravesend and our train journey back home.
Any questions will try to answer for you. We had a great time.
Gill.
