Royal’s IT is an abomination.
-
I suppose I should just be happy none of my scheduled cruises have disappeared. :') :o
-
I'm still seeing this issue. All of my past cruises are listed, but on the dashboard it shows 0 total points and "pre-gold" status. Fortunately I don't have a cruise for ~50 days, so plenty of time for this to be fixed.
(Royal's website and IT in general is appallingly bad)

Not fair to the employees or the customers.
And provides no useful data to the employer either.
-
If someone asks/begs me to give all 10s, that’s an automatic -1 regardless of how everything else went.

June 30, 2017 on Serenade of the Seas here. Two cruises between now and then so haven't done too much planning yet!
-
Companies just seem to be unwilling to figure this out.
It’s not worth the effort. Easier to just let a few people bring their pets on board. Despite threads like this one, I imagine RCI gets very few complaints about dogs on board and certainly no appreciable loss of revenue.

Were you already assigned to traditional dining?
Actually we were in MTD on each of my cruises. We were requesting a table for two. Approved in advance four times but rejected the last time.
-
Make your dining preference request to rcldining@rccl.com about 3 weeks before the cruise.
This is what I’ve always done, but for what it’s worth, when I made a seating request for my most recent cruise (Freedom, April 2017) I received a response indicating that all dining requests had to be made in person once onboard. I ended up getting what I wanted once I boarded, but I was surprised at the email response, having successfully used the email on 3 or 4 previous cruises.
-
So when do we see the actual itineraries? Just prior to the on sale date?
-
We're you in traditional dining for your April 2017 cruise?
No. My time—just like my three previous cruises where the early email request worked fine.
In fact, the employee who responded to me in April is someone at RCI with whom I’ve corresponded previously on seating requests.
-
The last cruise I took (April 2017) I used the email and got a reply that they couldn’t implement any seating requests (e.g., table for two) in advance. Instead I was told I needed to request once on board. Previously I had no problem using the email for seating requests.

Does the new rule apply to the soda only package as well? We usually buy one of them (for me) on ships with Freestyle machines.
If Mrs. Danv3 is forced to buy one, they’ll lose money from my family with this rule change (but I don’t suppose they’ll notice!)

I'm under the impression that European cruises are slightly more formal than, say, Caribbean ones, but you'll be fine in almost anything.
-
To reiterate, RCI doesn't enforce its suggestions. In jeans you will be dressed nicer than half of the guests in the MDR.
A more interesting question is why RCI even bothers to publish suggestions at all.
-
Every so often someone takes a pretty good argument, takes it a step too far and their whole point is wasted.
I'll wait to be convinced that shorts are OK but swimsuits are not based on something other than personal preference or appeals to what's "classy" or "appropriate."
-
Taking this a bit far with that comment aren't we ...We're not talking about swimwear but glad you got your 2 cents into this
Not really. Every argument in favor of shorts in the MDR equally supports swimsuits in the MDR or even full nudity.
1. It's hot in the Caribbean!
2. It's my vacation, I'll wear what I want!
3. Just ignore whatever anyone else is wearing!
4. If you're that upset about what other people are wearing, them problem is you, not them!
We see these arguments raised all the time on these boards. If one accepts these arguments, there is no valid reason why one wouldn't also accept swimsuits in the MDR.
At the end of the day, however, it's irrelevant. RCI doesn't bother to enforce its "suggestions" in 99.9% of cases. Thus, there is no MDR dress code on RCI.
-
If it bother's you what someone wear's...choose not to look.
And by the same token, swimsuits should be fine for the MDR.
-
Thanks to you both.

I'm taking a non-cruise vacation to Maui in January 2018. For two of the days we'll be there, POA is in port in Kahului. Will the presence of the ship in port have a noticeable impact on crowds on the island? Are there things we should avoid doing while the ship is there? For example, maybe Haleakala and the Road to Hana should wait until after the ship has left?
On the other hand, it looks like POA only holds somewhere north of 2,000 pax, so perhaps it won't have any appreciable effect at all and I just shouldn't worry about it!

These forms take so little time to fill out it never would have occurred to me to even think about filling them out in advance.
-
For some reason, American companies are absolutely terrified to challenge anyone who brings an animal with them anywhere. The ADA is broad, but it is not unlimited.
-
Why would your TA have approved a change? Surely the default position for any TA would be "no" unless expressly authorized by the client.
I think this is on RCI. They wanted your stateroom and they took it. At the end of the day, they know there's not a whole lot you can do about it.
FTR, any documentation RCI has (i.e., notes) could easily be faked. Unless you see an e-mail from your TA or hear a recording, I wouldn't assume the TA has done wrong.

How's that going to work for business travelers?
If it happens, it will be painful no doubt. I don't think the government wants to go here, but I think it's coming.
People may have to rent laptops at their destination. Or not bring a laptop.

Haven’t had an aft cabin before, but I’ve got two in my next three cruises. Really looking forward to trying it out!
