  3. So sorry to hear. If I remember right, you were heading to Easter Island, hope that is not a problem docking ?

You probably already know the next, I think two voyages have been removed from their website. Do you know where the ship is going to hang out till April 16th?

  4. So very sorry to hear. It is a place that is so hard to get to and even when you arrive. The winds could keep you from landing. This virus is impacting the sick and non sick. A dirty shame.

See below of what you missed: (the little house is for potatoes, most everyone has them)

I just visited the My SS website and see no mention of cancellation Dubai to Athens 3/25. I am on with a BtoB  Athens to Venice. I would imagine a detailed cancellation will be forthcoming tomorrow. On a Sunday, how did your agent get this info?

Sorry to say, both voyages have been pulled off the Silversea website.  (Mumbai & Dubai )

I really feel for all that are affected with refunds, making new travel arrangements, major disappointments and the shore excursion guides losing out on much needed income... In that part of the world, every little bit helps.

  6. In cabin you usually get to pick two liquors and as many soft drinks and mixing sodas. But you could during the voyage end up with some additional wines and sparkling wines also.

For wines during the cruise it usually goes in two ways about 90 percent of the time. First and most popular way is guests just try the provided wines being offered during that diner serving. Keep in mind these wines are budget wines from all over the world and it would be very hard for guests to know about each wine without tasting them.

Second way is hard to please or guests who have a pallet for higher priced wines, finding it difficult to except budget wines. The server will keep bringing you a different vineyard of the grape you requested until they exhaust supply. Usually you will fine one that is acceptable and they will have it for your entire voyage at each dining area.

So having a list only causes more problems because it would promote guest asking to taste all of them...

  7. It may seem kinda strange but I don't remember anything special to keep you occupied. It's just like any other Sea Day. Although I do remember people sitting in areas each day reading books, sitting in the library and a lot of guests having very long lunches in the main dining room. Felt very relaxed and crew was also in relax mode...

Hi, I would try to call them again.....not sure if they will re-do it for you or not. Sorry they are not getting back to you.

I have always found them answering my questions very promptly.

You got plenty of time to apologize. You can call them and ask to talk to the Silver Sky department. If the won't connect you directly to them the agent over the phone should be able to help. If you used some random travel agent you may be in trouble.

I answered on the other thread.

Three to a suite is a tipper.  The suites on Galapagos are small.

(Caveat I've only sailed on the larger suites and would never again do three to a suite in anything smaller than Muse)

That's correct. We have been in the silver suite on the top deck and the room was small. The little couch for a third person would be like camping in a tent.

  10. OK I see you are a little desperate..

When you go to a hotel and at the counter they ask you if you would like to upgrade to a larger or nicer room. You will have to let them know yes or no. Same thing here but you have a little time to go back to the Silversea website and see if its worth it for you. Only you can spend your money...

We get on the ship and go north to Valparaiso....we are not going to Antarctica.  We are cruising the Chilean fiords.  And some of us are continuing on to Easter island.

Chilean Fiords are very similar to the inside passage north of Vancouver  to Juneau. It is mesmerizing seeing the glaciers and many little water falls. Have fun...

I'm guessing some of us might be grumpy when they are driving us around Ushuaia on a bus because we are there too early to board!

They will drive you out to a restaurant so they can control the buses one by one, to board the ship in a controlled fashion, later in the afternoon.

You can catch up on missed sleep when your crossing the calm Drake passage.

We are on the cruise from Ushuaia to Easter Island on the Explorer leaving 3/4/2020.  Just received the information that the Charter leaves Buenos Aries at 6:40AM!   Has anyone else experienced this early a flight?  If so, what time did you have to be at the airport?

Yes we have. When you get the ss hotel they will give you your boarding pass and tell you what time to be in the lobby. Ours was 4am.
