  1. I was in Barcelona last year for a conference and often took the subway around alone to get to meetings and dinners. I have a Travelon travel handbag that I wear cross body (it is built with anti theft security functions and I bought mine on Amazon for about $35). I was conscious in crowded situations - and had no problem. Don’t keep anything in your pockets and hold on to your bag. But that is true anywhere. It is a lovely city and I felt quite safe.

  2. Hi there, they let you use your BOGO dinners on nights other than 1 and 2? My wife and I are considering BOGO for our 3/17 cruise but are slightly bummed about being forced to use them it on nights 1&2. The POSSIBILITY of being able to switch to a later night would make me feel better!

Yes we were allowed to do nights 1 and 3 I believe, but again and with most things RC I think it depends on who you speak to. We were on a very port intensive cruise and I suspect pre-sales of specialty dining were not strong so they were willing to accommodate us.

  3. I don't think it negates the benefit, as I'm assuming that benefit is free, whereas the regular Joe has to pay for it. When we were on Harmony they were flexible about when we used it, but I suspect that just depends on who you talk to.

For our upcoming cruise, a family member booked the Mystery Dinner, which is the first night, but was also able to book the BOGO, so not sure what will happen with that, as we tried, and weren't able to do that.

  4. OP, I feel for you! And very impressed that you didn't panic. It would be nice to know why this happened. We are embarking in two weeks and I'm now planning on having our group ensure at least one other person knows if they are going to the washroom, so that we are all aware. Thanks for sharing as this may help someone else avoid what you've been through.

  5. Of course no sooner do I write the above and I get a new email from RC offering me bigger discounts on excursions etc than they have offered for a while! Cancelled my existing shore excursions and rebooked with the new ‘deal’ and saved $70. Better than nothing!!

  6. If you booked directly, you will get many (many!!!) emails with new "deals". The closer you get, the less of a deal they are in my experience. We ended up booking drinks packages in December for March at a reasonable discount - I think, one never knows whether it is a deal, but just be fine with what you end up paying. We are three weeks out now, and the "deals" are becoming smaller.

  7. You could always call and add On Board Credit to your account every once in a while, to equal the approximate price of the drinks package, and then purchase on board. Of course, it may be more expensive on board, or maybe it isn't. As Bob pointed out, none of us really know for sure what those discounts are referring to!! Sort of a round about way of making payments on it.

Back when RC was converting CA to US$ at $1.10, we put a few hundred dollars on our account. Saved a few bucks, and was handy to not have a bill at the end. Of course RC has woken up to the exchange rates (wahhhh...) so I'm less inclined to do that now.
