  1. Typical price is $95 and it can be reserved via the Cruise Planner on Royal's website. We've done it a couple of times and had no tours, no books, no photos.

My family of four did the chef's table last week on Enchantment for $40pp. It was fantastic but apparently nobody booked it for the first night so they were looking to fill the table.

  2. My wife is a vegetarian and we just put in a request for Indian food through our TA. Makes life so much easier. If there really is something that piques her interest she can order it.

Can you explain this option to me? We sail on the Enchantment in April and my daughter is a vegetarian.

On past cruises she would just order the veg option off the main menu and was fine with it but if there is another option for her that would be great.

    Thanks.

  3. Stay away from onboard credit. We had it given to us as a gift when we were recently on a B2B and never got it straightened out in the 2 weeks we were on board the ship. Customer service was just terrible. They had no idea what they were doing. When we got home, I spoke to the assistant to the CEO and she said there was no reason why they shouldn't have given it to us. Not only did they not give it to us, but they didn't even attempt to figure it out or accommodate us. We wasted hours at Guest Services trying to straighten it out to no avail.

So what did the assistant to the CEO do about it?

  4. I have used the same CVP at Royal for our last 4 cruises and she is great! We had a price drop for our upcoming cruise in April and she took care of it in a few seconds and saved us over $100 per room. A few years ago when my wife and I were looking for a last minute cruise she called me up and said, "get your wallet out you are going to love what I just found for you"! Let's just say we paid more to stay on the beach in Fort L for two days before our cruise than we paid for the 5 day cruise.

Also, she always has a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in the room. She really is great.

  5. We have for years put our change in a jar ( cruise jar ) for the extra expenses or travel $$. Within a year + we can save up to 300.

Just over two years ago I started throwing $1 bills, quarters and dimes in a case I have in my home office. Every few months I would stack the bills in $50 or $100 piles and roll the change. Last Saturday my wife and I walked into the bank with two very heavy duffle bags and we seriously could not stop laughing. The poor girl behind the counter had no idea what was about to hit her.

Anyway, $2570 later we are heading on a cruise in April with our two daughters to celebrate our oldest daughters college graduation.:D A part of me was a little sad to see the stash go.

  6. Recently?

Last May one passenger could buy the package and the other was not required to. The policy changed a few months ago so that now if one person buys it, the other passenger must buy it also.

That was the policy when the package first came out too. We were still able to get just one by simply asking when we got on the ship.

  7. Recently?

Last May the wife and I were on Enchantment and as always they were selling the drink package when you enter the ship but I walked past them and 20 minutes later we saw a guy in the hallway selling the package and my wife said that she has a glass of wine with dinner and a drink after dinner but my husband should really have the package. He took my card and put the sticker on it. It was pretty simple really.

  8. Another vote for Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. We spent a few days here in November pre-cruise and it was wonderful. Great pool, perfect beach, lots of amenities. It would be a perfect place for honeymooners.

We stayed at the Renaissance the first four cruises and enjoyed it but we booked this hotel for our cruise in April because we will be in Fort L. for two and a half days before our cruise. The problem is (not really a problem when we are talking about cruises and enjoying the beach) that we leave from Miami so transportation to the port is something I have to figure out. Probably Uber.

  9. I have been on both. I was on Enchantment two weeks ago and I will be on Sky again next week. I think the Solarium area on Enchantment is excellent. The main pool deck large and attractive. The Sky's main pool deck area is nice, but I think Enchantments was just "that much" nicer. Entertainment I think they are about equal, similar type shows in the theater (a production music/singing type show, usually a fly in headliner), NCL had better secondary shows, IMO, but Enchantment makes use of its larger and nicer atrium area for some secondary shows.

I think NCL food is much better in both quality and availability. Rooms largely similar between the two if talking interior/oceanview/balcony type. No idea about suites on either. I liked the outdoor dining area and 24 hour sports bar on the Sky. Outrigger lounge is a great venue on the Sky, but I think Viking Crown on Enchantment is every bit as nice (though smaller).

GSC was superior to Coco Cay my last few visits and GSC has also just been updated with a new buffet, new free Taco bar, and some other amenities. Royal is in the process of upgraded Coco Cay next door but I think NCL's stop is a little bit better.

I've even been known to enjoy the 4 day sailings on the Carnival Victory, (Key West and Cozumel instead of Bahamas) and think that ship has the best dining room food of the three and far and away the best rooms. Just to throw that wrench in there. If the included open bar is not important on the Sky I wouldn't pay a premium for that ship, but I'd pay equal money for any of the three ships pretty much.

My last trip on the Enchantment was disappointing, but the ship is in dry dock now so the crew can't use "dry dock" as a constant excuse for shortcomings. I know the product Royal normally delivers and the last cruise was seriously sub-par; if it had been my first it would have been my last with Royal. So it's possible to have a great, or terrible, cruise on any given ship any week.

Let's see how the Sky is looking in a few days.

    Good info. Thank you.

  10. All I will say is this - my husband says the Norwegian Sky should be painted grey and sent to a military site with soldiers. We hated that ship so much!! Drinks were watered down, pool area was the worst we have seen in 98 cruises, food was awful, just the entire experience was terrible.

Now, Enchantment, although an older ship, we love it, love the staff, layout, etc. I would take Enchantment 1000% over Sky. Not even a comparison, IMO.

Not sure what this means but I get the fact that you did not enjoy your time on the Sky.

  11. for a four day cruise last May for the wife and I and we really enjoyed the ship and itinerary. Thinking about taking our two girls (22 and graduating and 20) on this ship the first week of March on their college spring break. I noticed the Norwegian Sky was leaving on the same day and was curious if anyone has been on this ship and how it compares. How do the pools compare, the entertainment, food,. . .? I know the Sky has drinks included but the girls are not huge partiers but they do love the entertainment. The wife and I always get the drink package:p They have been on 3 or 4 cruises with us all on RC.

    Thanks.
