It's a phenomenon that really fascinates me for some reason. Last cruise on the Allure about a month ago, I can't tell you how many times I was in a packed elevator with someone carrying plates full of food. Don't these people worry about germs lol? I am not a germaphobe, but the thought of people in close quarters breathing/sneezing/coughing all over a plate of food is disgusting. I can see if you are bringing it down for someone who isn't feeling well or has mobility issues....but the walking plates seemed like they were EVERYWHERE lol. Are people worried they may run out of dining options or that the ship might run out of food?

 

I'm writing this more just as an observation...I don't expect many of you to actually admit to doing this. I am alone in this observation?

I think it might be time to be honest with yourself and admit that you are a germaphobe:p. . .not that there is anything wrong with that.

maybe they should put numbered positions on the decks for chairs, then assign those to cabins in order based on cabin catagory starting with suites then balcony, OV, inside. or maybe by status, pinnacle, diamond+, diamond, etc.

 

You know that really is fair, those that pay more get more. -:)

Haha, we are talking about a RCI cruise ship. If you paid more then that's your problem. :)

I think a massive game of musical chairs is the only answer.

We always rent a cabana at the ship islands! It's nice to have a "home base " we feel comfortable leaving our belongings while we swim or go for a walk or lunch or shopping as there is a steward watching the cabanas. It's relatively quiet, there is a fan for hot days. U get float mats included as well as towels and a cooler of cold water. The steward will fetch drink for you...ITS VACATION SPLURGE!!!!!!

We are on Enchantment on May 8th, so just so I can get this straight. . .if we rent a cabana, we can have food and drink (we have the drink package) brought to us by staff throughout the day and if we rent snorkel gear when we get to Cococay we can snorkel right in front of our cabana. The cabana will also come with two lounge chairs and two water mattresses? Is this correct? Did I miss anything?

Wow, all of these people can complain for eternity about shorts affecting their dining experience, but they can't comprehend the inappropriateness of the location of the movie, not the movie itself. In an area of the ship, where the expected age group is to be 12 and under, it doesn't matter if it was port day or not, that area is designated as child friendly. Had she taken them to a bar and then complained there was alcohol and drunk people, her complaints would be unfounded, but there are many other more appropriate places geared towards an older age group. Unless you're an incredible planner, and know exactly all of the hundreds of things going on in every area during every hour, one should be able to assume it's safe (without double and checking a multiple page document every day) to take their kids to the kiddie park.

We brought our 1 year old (her bday was on cruise) and used the daycare twice so we could relax by the pool for a few hours. We used the nightcare four times so we could enjoy our dinners, have some casino fun and catch a few of the adult shows. The care was great and I would highly recommend it. We never had a single issue with it and they allowed us to use it as much as we wanted since there weren't many babies onboard.

We brought baby food, but only used it for snacks when we were out. She ate very well and the mdr waiter would bring her fruit, mac n cheese and chicken fingers as we would sit down.each night she was with us. The buffets are great for that age as there is always something easy for breakfast and lunch to eat.

People say it's a waste of money to bring a little one because they won't remember it---I say it's something I will remember for the rest of my life. The staff was awesome with her and she had a blast...So many smiles from that week, we had a great time.

Great post! We did the same thing when our first daughter was a 1 year old and although that was 18 years ago and we have been on 8 or so cruises since that time (leaving on anther cruise in 34 days:D) that one will always be very special to us.

You got it. One 750ml bottle per person with no corkage charge and can be consumed in stateroom - if brought to lounge or dining room, corkage would be charged. The other 10 bottles would have the corkage charged at check-in and thus marked, and so can be brought to lounge or dining room and enjoyed as you like. They'll store unfinished bottled for you in dining room also...

For quite some time, it is a buy one, get one for $1. Still a great deal.

You can also bring unlimited bottles of wine / champagne on the ship with you and pay $15 corkage for each bottle to be consumed anywhere on the ship. If you consume two of the bottles in your stateroom only, you will not be required to pay the corkage of these two bottles.

So let me get this straight. If we bring a case of wine (12) we would just have to pay $150 when we check in (assuming we can take two on for free) and that would be it?

BOOKED! We set sail in 30 days on our first Princess cruise:) Now any suggestions on how to lose 10 pounds in 30 days?:p

I contacted a TA and she is holding an inside cabin for us until tomorrow and said that there is a good chance we will get an upgrade to balcony. She also wants me to take a serious look at an all inclusive in Puerto Morelos. When everything is said and done an all inclusive might be cheaper than a cruise, but there is something about booking a cruise that is so darn exciting!

on the Caribbean Princess on November 13th. The price looks very good but we have never cruised with Princess before. We have been on Norwegian once and RC 5 times so we are familiar with cruising but I would be interested in hearing some differences between RC and Princess. I always felt like Princess would be a step up. Also, would it be smart to go through a travel agent or just book it online? Thanks for any feedback.

and back to MCO after our cruise. . . .any suggestions? Leaving on a four day cruise in April and will be coming in a few days early to hang out at a hotel near the port I would think it would be less expensive than staying in Orlando that time of year.

Haha I don't think we were wearing cute sailor hats but there is one night that is a bit foggy. It's funny I was just looking at the cruises out of San Juan and they look amazing but those flights are so long and I'm looking for 4-5 days on the ship.

Thank you for the feedback Emory. We are looking at the CocoCay/Nassau trip. I have heard that this trip can experience some crazy weather at times and sometimes it can be difficult for the ship to stop at CocoCay. Have you had this experience?

for the wife's 50th birthday and had a great time. Loved cruising with family and friends but we realized that we didn't get to spend some quality time together so we are doing it again in April:)

Our 5 previous cruises have all been to the Caribbean but I'm thinking of doing a four night on Enchantment in April to the Bahamas. How do the Bahamas compare in regards to the beaches and snorkeling? We were not able to snorkel in Cozumel due to the rough waters and she was really disappointed.

Any thoughts about the Enchantment of the seas would be appreciated. We enjoy sitting around the pools when we are at sea.

Also, we have never cruised out of Orlando and the port seems a long way from the airport. We will be coming in a few days early and staying at one of the Marriott cruise port hotels.

A excursion to the Barrier Reef (2nd largest in the world) is not to be missed if you like to snorkel. :)

I'm not aware of any Royal Caribbean private island in or near Belize. If you mean Coco Cay in the Bahamas, the drink packages work there.

Yeah, I meant to say private beach because I thought I read that RC had one there but I better check that again.

and regarding the drink package and ports if we go to the private island in Belize will our drinks be covered by the package? I think that was the way it worked in Labadee.
