  1. Thanks to all that are responding! I really appreciate it b/c this will be our first 7 day cruise. We have done two (4 days) to Cozumel out of NOLA and loved them but wouldn't mind going out of Galveston for a change.

The Dream is cheaper by only $125 total ~ so it really is a close call.

  2. Ok, I know I have asked about different itineraries before but hubby and I have finally narrowed it down between two itineraries & two ships....

Carnival Magic to Belize, Cozumel, & Roatan

    or

Carnival Dream to Jamaica, Cozumel, & Grand Cayman

Please help! Our main objective is to relax and the main excursion we want to do is Zip line.

  3. Yes, the Magic has the pasta bar. Had a great time on the magic!

    thanks!

I am sooo torn....if we go in March our choices are both 7 days:

Caribbean Princess to Belize, Cozumel, & Roatan

CCL Magic to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, & Jamacia

If we go on the Dream it would be in April for a 6 day to Costa Maya, Cozumel, & Roatan.

    I just don't know what to do....lol

  4. thanks all! I appreciate your thoughts! We are still undecided....lol. Now as if we weren't already confused enough we have thrown the Caribbean Princess into the mix as well...

They each seem to have something I would love to experience....I will be happy with any b/c I will be on a cruise period...lol.

does the Magic have the pasta bar like the Dream does?

  5. well, we had to wait to book our cruise until after the new year....but hopefully we can still get the same or close to the same rate for the Princess sailing.... if not then it is back the our original plan for carnival dream either in April or May....

  6. Yes... The forums are free to use on board. They never ask for your cabin number or folio number, and that's how they bill you!! Using their computers, in the Fun Hubs guarantees you're not connecting via a phone line and their satellite tower... So I did it more from their computers or my laptop that doesn't have a way to connect with internet. I worried if I'd try from my iPad!!! So I didn't post from there!!!

I posted multi-times each day, and sometimes multi-time each "session." Just realize, it's NOT fast!!! Sometimes it would take 10minutes to get me onto the page... But I wasn't in a hurry and Nana loved hearing what others wrote back to us!!!

It's time consuming to join, create a user name and password, so I did all that from home. Then, taking the time to start the thread, and getting others to post BEFORE I left, made me know they could find it and post. So YES, I think it's best to start the thread before you leave!

awesome! I am already registered so all I would have to do is start the thread and explain to others what to do. That is great!

  7. Princess has robes - the default ones are a waffle weave variety and not as nice as on Carnival. Princess does have a better robe you can try to get your steward to bring.

and I think Princess showers are on the small size, as well.

thanks! that is not a "deal breaker" but nice to know. :D

  8. Sailed CCL 3x and Crown Princess once earlier this year. Quick thoughts...it's a pretty ship. Dining was very good. We had a Caribe balcony which was phenomenal! The cabin love ended there, though. The Princess shower seemed smaller (?). Plus, in the end, it's all about the bed, and our bed was not comfy. Pillows were worse. I'm picky, but all of our beds on Carnival cruises have been outstanding. Perfect. And, after our thick towels and soft robes on Carnival, we assumed all cruises have the same. No. Those things may not be as important to the OP as they are to us.

    Does Princess have the robes?

  9. I think you will like it. It is a little dressier in the evenings, making it more romantic. There was a swimming pool in the serenity area for the adults which I wish carnival had. When I went room service was not 24 hr, but the buffet was, a more limited selection but all night. Loved going for fresh fruit and coffee. Happy Anniversary and have fun.

    Thanks!

  10. We sailed many times on Carnival (3 times on the Dream) and once on Princess (Caribbean Princess).

Princess advantages (just a couple come to mind):

    > They'll cook a hamburger RARE in the dining room if you desire. :D

    > They have actual perks for sailing in a suite.

    > Try the UBD (Ultimate Balcony Dining/Dinner) - especially if your balcony has the elbow room.

Princess disadvantages (things that came as a surprise to us):

    > Order a mixed drink with Sprite Zero as a mixer, and you get to pay for the can of soda ON TOP of the mixed drink price - since they don't have Sprite Zero in their soda gun. A definite WTH moment (not just at one or two bars/venues)!

    > Order bottled water at the specialty restaurant (Crown Grill) and expect to be hit up for your ship card to pay for it... before you even order your meal !!

All in all, we had a very good cruise - just couldn't figure out why they were sweating the extra soda cost (I've never seen that anywhere else) and the "pay upfront" bottled water thing at the Crown Grill.

HERE'S a link to my lengthy review of the Caribbean Princess.

thanks - going to read right now!
