  1. Here are their aircraft details for those who want to know: 9H-BFS - 21.4 YEARS OLD TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE DEC 2020 THEN SAUDI ARABIA AIRLINES 9H-MFS - 18 YEARS OLD USED AS A FREIGHTER 2020 THEN SAUDI ARABIAN AIRLINES - ON GROUND MANCHESTER TODAY 9H-CFS 14.9 YEARS OLD - no details 9H-EFS - 21.2 YEARS ORIGINALLY 2002 QATAR AIRWAYS LAST SAUDI ARABIAN AIRWAYS - CURRENTLY FLYING NR VALENCIA 9H-RTU - 21.4 YEARS ORIGINALLY 2002 QATAR AIRWAYS - CURRENTLY BLUE PANORAMA AIRLINES - DUE OCTOBER 2023 TO MALETH 9H-JFS - 21.5 YEARS ORIGINALLY TAM LINHAS - LEASED AS FREIGHT 2021 They are clearly very old. A couple show backseat tv screens in the photos but clearly they won't be operational. More importantly they offer only economy seating although three show two rows of "first class searting" which I'd guess are gone.
  2. Where are you flying from and when? They did this last year at very short notice - on the day for a couple of Gatwick and Manchester flights last Christmas. Although we had TUI back from Barbados last year the entertainment system was broken and apparently so on the flight out from Birmingham too. Are you economy, the replacement planes last year didn't have Premium Economy so that was a big problem as well.
  3. Well this sadly is going the way of so many threads for a few. Let's insult P&O however we can, gather lots of one off quotes about the food, have a laugh to prove our points, single out absolutely everything that is wrong by dissecting other people's posts to find something , compare it with every other cruise line, hotel, holiday, caravan park in the world ... oh and by the way I'm going on a P&O cruise for my next trip!! Food is subjective, what I like and think is good is another man's poison. I see many on here lauding curry, even the smell of one makes me nauseous but I'd never use my dislike of the stuff as an argument against the MDR food. Ps: I love green beans and Arvia didn't have any ...
  4. This is interesting from the esteemed leader. They are very confident. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-12532707/P-O-Cruises-weathers-storm-holidaymakers-splash-winter-getaways.html
  5. I hope the weather improves for you. I understand there were some incredible sunsets in Boston before the storm so hopefully something nice out of the adversity.
  6. Not on Britannia. Arvia and Iona have them under the bedside lamps.
  7. Probably not but making the app work properly, organising enough transport shuttles, ensuring that you don't have to queue to join a queue, upholding your own rules on swimming pool safety and dress codes etc are surely something within their control, and with regard to the latter if as a company you really don't care how people dress do away with your "code" so those booking at least know what to expect. Little things mean a lot as they say ...
  8. The problem is those same issues are obviously still repeating. They don't seem to be getting put right and what doesn't affect your enjoyment is clearly still impacting others. If people sailing don't report back they'll never get put right. They may seem repetitive to some but to those having their holiday impacted it may well be a problem that stops them enjoying what they've paid for.
  9. Hi Eric. This topic came up back in April. Have a look at this thread as it might help you with some information. I can confirm that this poster did get onboard and sailed!
  10. I'm sure you'll have a great time. In fairness my complaint wasn't food or entertainment, as you know it was noise, staff attitude and disorganisation for the ports. The ship itself is nice and the entertainment was excellent. I doubt in April it will have so many children either being between Easter and May bank holiday. We had pretty grotty weather despite it being May which did mean certain places were very busy as there were 8 seadays, again weather will hopefully not be a problem in April. I doubt it will be rubbish, most likely you'll have a great time, it's just not a ship for me.
  11. Thank you for your honest opinion. As a matter of interest are you able to expand on the differences between the two ships, is it just the atmosphere, staffing issues, clientele or were there other major differences which made Arvia less enjoyable? As someone who disliked Arvia enormously I had assumed I would find the same problems with Iona and have therefore avoided booking a cruise on her based on this. If I am wrongly assuming they are more or less the same it would be very helpful to know. Thank you.
  12. That was exactly my experience. The staff were at the entrance 30 minutes before the show to commence checking people in. On the one occasion I waited until 10 minutes before curtain up I did not get into the theatre until the show had started although I was booked. Finding a seat on that occasion was difficult as the overspill queue was blocking the corridor. This was the 8.30pm show.
  13. I'd go for it if it's what you want. Rarely when preparing do I submit to paying more than a $20 or so extra tip. A very good friend of mine is a Disney World employee - we met him New Year's Eve 1999 on his first day as barman in Disney Port Orleans. Four years later we met him again as a senior barman in Grand Floridian. By then he was married and bought a house outright in Celebration based as he put it tips from misguided Brazilians and Europeans. Takefromtgat as you will - his advice to us a dollar or so maxbwith a round of drinks is more than enough...
  14. We had this problem for my husband in July. It was explained whilst technically valid there could be difficulties on any diversions to countries with different rules- Greece was specifically mentioned. After discussing it we bought the new passport.
  15. This might help: How much is the gratuity for a 7 night Disney cruise? If you're traveling on a seven-night cruise with a party of four, your total gratuity fee would be $407 ($14.50 x 4 people x 7 nights). This baseline amounts will be automatically added to your stateroom bill. You can choose to pay them in advance of your sailing or once you're onboard.29 Jan 2023
  16. Got to make good use of my drinks package on my next Princess cruise somehow .
  17. My OH had a client meeting last week about increasing his fee and the client asked him for a clause in the new contract that he will be available until he's 75, another nine years. Interestingly several of the clients are asking for commitment until 70 and beyond. Unfortunately retirement is a long way off for him and many of our friends who worked in the same industry.
  18. Strangely if you book select a lot of these cabins carry a higher premium than ones on higher decks, often £100 or more above entry price. Better one of those than a deck 9 aft in my opinion - the deck 9 aft cabins have serious noise issues as I discovered to my cost after a big free "upgrade"!
  19. There's no guarantee that what you see online is representative as savers get allocated. There's also the new bidding system for upgrades to take account of any type computers will be working on those too.
  20. Good to hear. Don't tell me, they reserved everything for you in advance! My faith is a very long way from restored - I've had 6 yes I repeat 6 emails today reminding me my balance is due. The problem with that is it's reminding me of s balance payment on my cancelled Arvia cruise in December.
  21. Unfortunately bands now cost a fortune! My niece looked at hiring one for an event. Each band member has to be paid individually by the hour, starting price for 5 piece was £3,250 before adding these individual costs on top. Unfortunately young people don't want to join their local town band either so that route is closing too. Perhaps they could try the Salvation Army!
  22. Even if you only have a cup of tea and a finger sandwich the experience is one of the best at sea, and then there's the tea dance st least once a cruise with the orchestra. Next year I currently have Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Anne booked. I'm looking long and hard at Queen Elizabeth to get the full set for the first time in a very long time. Basically returning "home" after a few years of P&O and Celebrity - I found out in May just what has been missing in my cruises for quite a while.
  23. Yes, we had them on Allure years back. They looked impressive but could only serve five cocktails - no idea if the more modern ones have more selection.
  24. It's not his favourite but he has placed on soft going - his 3rd at Goodwood being the latest. The one I have that detests soft ground is First Folio and as a result he's hardly seen a racecourse this year. Dutch Decoy currently on offer at 9/1 in a 15 horse field hoping for a good run and he doesn't have to travel too far either. All being well, he will go down to Newmarket for the Cambridgeshire on the 30th as he likes both Newmarket courses.
