Is this an advertisement for another cruise line on the NCL board?

Nope, I just thought it would be a help for veterans and first responders. Based upon the number of negative posts, I can see that this forum is not designed to help them. Don't concern yourselves with any additional posts from me. I've been on this forum for over 9 years with few posts. I can see now that this was a mistake. All the haters and snarky posters out there, continue with your smart a$$ remarks. I should have realized that by the title of this forum, "Critic",  you experts out there know it all. I will delete the cruise critic app now. Can't say I enjoyed it.

  2. Well, I guess I thought of it as a good deal for our first responders and veterans. I see other cruise lines mentioned on this forum. I thought even though it's a NCL forum, it would be of interest to some as it is a cruise ship and this is a cruising forum.

I’m on the last escape sailing before drydock in September. As some of you may know from my other thread, I have been struggling to book a different cabin as all categories are pretty much guarantee-only at this point. There are about 60 cabins left for this Sept 2 sailing.

I started to get a sense something was up when, a group on another website for this sailing, started to balloon in member size. I think It is about 500 members, about 200 more than I last checked. When I started browsing the profiles, I saw many of them were from Philippines, India, Singapore, and other common crew member countries, and many were ship workers, engineers and crew. What it seems is that my sailing is going to be taking on a whole heap of new crew. If this is indeed the case, I’m happy for them, it’s a great opportunity.

what I’m wondering though, is how this might affect guest experience. First off, this might explain why so few cabins are available - many are probably being used to house or quarantine incoming crew.

Secondly, has anyone ever been on a final cruise before a dry dock? If so, did you notice anything special about it? did they start shutting down areas and decks early to prepare? Was service reduced?

I am thinking that only the above explanations can explain why the reservations for this sailing seem so off and why there are so many ship crew on the group. I’d love to hear if anyone’s ever experienced this before.

i am pretty confident NCL will have pretty strict rules for the incoming crew to ensure they stay in their assigned areas and clear of guests enjoying their time, but the sad part is that socially and mingling-wise, it would be unfortunate if there are less tourists than usual.

    thanks for hearing me out

Anyone know the normal length of time for dry dock. Got a cruise in Dec.

You make all dinner reservations the same way. 120 Days prior to departure, book them online. At the time of service, you decide how you are going to pay for the meal. Specialty Dink g Package credit, Room Charge, or platinum voucher.

As a platinum member,  you get a few more perks, but you are still a nobody on the ship. And you do not get access to the Haven.

Make sure to check in with the CruiseNext desk on embarkation day to see what is being offered.

I agree with bird for online. Today I hit 120 days and went online to book Cagneys. Ours is a big family cruise and a table for 8 was only available at 9 pm. We went for 2 tables for 4 and got that for 5:30 pm. Don' wait till you get on board, you will be disappointed unless you don't mind eating at 9 pm.

I just booked a cruise for October and I'm looking at Go Port.  This does look like a pretty good deal.  Just the convenience of paying one price and having the hotel and all transportation included.  I'm sure I can save a few bucks by booking a hotel (with free shuttle from airport) myself and just booking a shuttle to/from the cruise port, but it won't be much of a savings

Yup. You might be able to save a few bucks by doing that, but I got lazy and just let them do it all. If you come up with a $ total savings, let us know. Curious as to what the diff might be.

    Hello Cruise Critics,

I'm looking for recommendations to which hotel to stay at once arrived from Orlando airport (MCO) and looking for the best shuttle services.

I would need a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, from the hotel to the cruise port and then once the cruise end, a shuttle back to the airport.

    Much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Check out Go Port. I set it up for our daughter on our Dec cruise. Fly into MCO, call hotel. Hotel picks you up and takes you to the hotel. Free breakfast at hotel the next morning. Then they shuttle you to the cruise port. After cruise, call and Go Port picks you up at the terminal and transports you back to MCO. Hotel is La Quinta near the airport. Can't comment on it till after Dec. Price is $189.

If someone knows the answer, please also advise us which stocks to buy.  Oh, and what color is your crystal ball.

Shoulda, coulda, wooda. In October 2010, Bitcoin was 10 cents a share. If you had invested $100 you would have had 1000 shares. On Thursday, those 1,000 bit coins would be worth $48 million. Wish I had that crystal ball.

this is like the tipping thread.. pre-pay if you want to, dont prepay and pay at the end. there is no upside or downside to either, other than you'll have a cheaper bill at the end

My preference is to pay onboard. I use my OBC and the rest goes to the casino.

    Lucky, I never got mine.

Yup, like I said I didn't get mine when I sent it snail mail but got a quick response thru email. Try again, don't let it go. You deserve your OBC if a shareholder.

  10. On June 30th I sent a request for my OBC to be posted to my account as a shareholder. I didn't receive anything as of July 13. I sent it snail mail as I couldn't figure out how to get rid of my account number on the computer. Yesterday, at 1130 AM my GD came over and sent my info to the email address. At 5:16 PM, same day, I received an email from NCL stating they had received my request and they will be adding OBC to my account. Thank goodness for grand kids.

Our cruise out of Port Canaveral leaves on Saturday November 19 at 4pm, and we are flying in the day before and staying at an airport area hotel. We haven't booked a shuttle yet. Does it matter which one we book? Is it important to book the shuttle through NCL? I've seen other shuttles that are cheaper that the $75 round trip that NCL charges. And where do we meet the shuttle busses?

Just for your information, I was checking on a package for my daughter who lives in NC. Check out Go Port on google. I booked her a hotel and transportation package. She lands in Orlando and calls the hotel (La Quinta), they come to the airport and pick her up to take her to the hotel. The next morning she gets a free breakfast and the hotel shuttle bus takes her to Port Canaveral to meet us for the cruise. After the cruise, a bus transports her to the Orlando airport to fly back home. All this comes to $201 including the hotel. I can't say how the service or the hotel will be, but I thought it would be worth a try.

  12. I sold NCL at $16 after buying at $7.90..NCL is cheap again so I thought I’d buy another 100 shares. My question is I have a reservation for 12/16/22 which I still owe $ on it. Can I submit my form to get the OBC or would I have to have done that when making the original reservation? I looked on NCL and it looks like I can, but I was wondering if anyone else has done this.
