  1. I'm in a similar situation and am being told by HAL that I need to wait until about the 15th of July before they will straighten out the mess. I had booked a B2B2B (3/18-3/29; 3/29-4/8;4/8-4/15) on the Rotterdam. With the Rotterdam now leaving for her TA 4/3 that means my 2nd & 3rd cruises are now a "no go". My TA called HAL on Tuesday and was informed they could do nothing at that time and that we had to wait before they could "officially" make changes to my current booking.  I did get an email with "A Message From Gus Antorcha" referencing my 3/29 to 4/8 cruise.

    In part the message said:

"To accommodate this deployment change, we regret to advise that your cruise has been cancelled. We sincerely apologize for this change as we never like to disappoint our guests. All funds paid to Holland America Line will be refunded to the original form of purchase. Refunds will be processed by Friday, July 15, 2022 and should be credited to your account within 10 to 15 business days. Please note the timing of the visibility of the funds is dependent upon your financial institution’s internal process. In the event any portion of the cancelled cruise’s fare was paid using a previously issued Future Cruise Credit, that FCC will be returned to your Mariner Account.

In light of this change, we will apply $100 per person USD Shipboard Credit (SBC) to your Mariner Account by Friday, July 15 that can be applied to any other Caribbean voyage sailing Winter or Spring 2023."

Wonderful of HAL to give me $100 to spend on one of their ships 😒 So far I've heard nothing about my 4/8 - 4/15 cruise but needless to say it is a no go also. I was so looking forward to 28 days on-board but as John Lennon said (actually written by Allen Saunders) "Life is what happens when you are making other plans".

Did they contact you to take the test or did you remind them you are B2B?

Again, speaking of what they did in March, they delivered a letter to the stateroom of everyone doing a B2B advising time and place to show up for the test. There were enough B2Bers that they spaced it out so that the number of people was never great cutting down the wait time.

  3. Having traveled this spring with someone who was placed in quarantine for Covid she was allowed to continue using her drink package and the Wi-Fi.  As it turned out she was able to get pretty much everything she asked for.  Those things, like salt and pepper (ship had no paper packages) I was able to take care of by creating "care packages" for her, taking them to the customer service deck and they had them delivered to her room.  And no, I did not send her glass shakers instead I put salt & pepper in small envelopes for her.

  4. My question deals with the crediting of Mariner days?

Situation – I am currently 2 days short of being a 4 Star Mariner. I am planning on doing a B2B2B for a total of 31 days next spring. Since it will have no bearing on the actual cruise cost I’m wondering if I book the 1st leg separately under one booking number and then leg 2 & 3 separately under another booking number will they give me 4 Star status when I check in for leg 2 & 3.  I’d really really like to have free unlimited laundry for those last 21 days.  Thanks in advance for your answers.

We’ll be visiting Curaçao on a Sunday. Do you know if the different shops are open? We want to visit a couple of jewelry stores after our excursion. Thx.
im really enjoying reading your adventures. They are not only interesting but very informative.

Your high end jewelry stores will probably be open but some of the smaller locally owned shops will not be.

Mary/Bill would you please see if you can find out how many people will be on board the sailing out of Ft Lauderdale on this Wednesday the 16th. Thanks

  6. My last statement which was for Final Payment did not include all the Package items that were included on the original invoice for our 3/16/22 cruise when we booked way back in Dec of 2020 when HAL cancelled our 3/21/21 cruise due to covid.  Since our booking was turned over to a TA calling HAL will do no good so I'm simply taking Page 2 of our original booking notice with me next week in case there is any question as to what we paid for.

  7. I'm so anxious to cruise again I think I'm brain dead 😵.  I can no longer find the link to Luggage Direct.  I have used it before when disembarking in Ft. Lauderdale and have booked and paid for it on-line - just one less thing to do onboard the cruise.  Can anyone provide the link? Thanks!

Has anyone tipped the people who do the laundry, and if so, how do you go about that? We'll be on the Eurodam this summer and usually send out some sort of bag every night. They do such a good job I'd like to recognize that. Are they part of the auto gratuities at all?

Great question, I have wondered the same thing. The last few times I've sailed I always got a note from the laundry staff in the basket with the folded items. While I always put notes of "Thanks and praise for the great job" on the laundry list I included with my dirty clothes I haven't figured out how to tip extra.

  10. It makes no sense that you can’t get something to keep HOT water in.  NMCruiser123 asked for and got Bar-Bells to work out with along with real plates, glasses and silverware while he was in quarantine on the Zuiderdam. Keep asking for anything that might make your quarantine a little less stressful.
