We will be on the Ascent for the pre-Maiden voyage. I’m not sure who the captain will be. What is the appeal of having both?  Genuinely curious as I have never been one to follow a particular captain or crew.

We loved Capt Taos on Solstice. We are on the 11/22/23 cruise. There is a Facebook group for this sailing as well.

They are both amazing Captains, I believe they are brothers. We loved Captain Toas.

I don’t know if it’s a good price or not but we are celebrating a milestone anniversary so we were willing to splurge a little. Our fare is $1400 pp plus tax. It would have been less if we hadn’t opted for the perks. DH needs wifi access and I prefer to have a drinks package. The $350 obc is refundable.

We booked an E2 with perks, $150 OBC refundable balcony for about $2500 for two. He has rooms available. I too am wondering if a maiden voyage is a good idea.

  4. In my humble opinion paying the price for a cabana that is not in the sun does not give me more than grabbing a seat out of the sun…which on the Apex were plentiful. On the Apex over Christmas we had 2 sunny days…we sat up on roof top deck with plenty of chairs. Your choice.

  5. I was interested in booking the Thermal Spa for the week. I noticed it said time limit 15 min. When I clicked to purchase I had to pick a time on the first day in a 15 minute increment. Is this a place that I can stop in at anytime to use the amenities? I understand the time limit on the heated loungers,  but what about the other things. Before I drop $219.00 I want to be sure I have freedom to go when I want to go.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Audio-only could potentially avoid choppiness due to bandwidth issues with either package.  But if shipboard IT is blocking a necessary port for Zoom calls on the surf package (443 as I recall), neither bribery nor palanca will be of any help in making the connection.

It's worth a try with 'surf', but I'd be ready to upgrade to 'stream' once aboard if it doesn't work.

Would be interesting to hear from anyone who has been successful with an audio-only on 'surf'.

    You used the word Palanca…DeColores??

We got those too, it's nice to be able to tell our passports apart by them being different colors when they are all in my purse 🙂 and keeping up with the vax cards is nice too

I agree about the colors. It’s nice to glance and know whose is whose and purple is my favorite color😁

Just got these on Amazon. Holds your vaccine card and passport. A purple 😆 and navy one. Nice quality. Boarding the ship three weeks ago we had to show our vaccine card three times and we were so nervous that we were going to lose it in the process. Now it’s securely with the passport and I can just show it and don’t have to be taking it out and handling it.

Both my husband and I (Charlotte, NC) received a canceled appointment notification last night 9pm - we were scheduled for today.  Thankfully we had the Binax Now Ag card which I just completed and am negative so Allure here we come!

If anyone is in the (north) Charlotte area and had the same thing happen (10/29) PM me if you need an Binax Now Ag card test.  I have a couple extras you could buy for what I paid for them - about $28.

So glad we had the backup of the Binax!  Not sure what we would have done otherwise.

For those of you who are relying on local places to test, you might want to consider a backup.  I have read several others have the same experience.

I thought. the only home test accepted was the one through RCL? We paid $35 each for our test.

Currently on Oasis, there was a QR code for us to scan and state how many towels we wanted for Coco Cay so they can deliver them to our room the night before. We are supposed to be able to swap them out for dry towels at several places on the island.

    That’s good to know

We booked a few days ago a cruise out of LA to Mexico.  We understand we need Covid tests in addition to our vaccination certificates.

Question. Can we purchase antigen test kits from RCCL to be used before we leave home. For us the pharmacies are just to iffy on getting results back in time.

We understand we need tests to get back into the USA. Does the cruise line do these?  Everyone on the entire ship coming back into LA will need a test.  We can find no information on any of this on RCCL website.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

It’s what we are doing. $70 and no stress.
