thanks everyone.
it is serenade leaving from florida so I know there is a time difference involved

I am planning a private excursion in Aruba. I am curious on what time I should ask the tour to meet me. Is Ship time for Serenade the same as local time in Aruba?
thanks

We did Alaska on HA instead of RC and enjoyed it. There weren't a lot of kids onboard which didn't bother our daughter. She did enjoy their library much more than rccl.
I enjoyed the laid back cruising without all the announcements and gimmicks that rc does. I know that rc is cutting back on announcements now.
I thought the food was comparable to rc as well.

It used to be the credit card points but I am sure their is a better card out there. I might look into an airlines card since airfare is so expensive!
When I can fly Buffalo to ST. Lucia cheaper than Buffalo to Vegas, something is wrong.

I used to get massages on the ships but found it is better and cheaper to get one at my regular spa facility at home either before or/and of after a cruise.
I don't have to put up with the upselling either.

I have an upcoming 11 nighter serenade cruise and I will not be paying over $600 for a package.
As much as I wanted to go to vintages and try different wines, I will stick with the free ice tea.
I plan on bringing my 2 bottles for our balcony and will drink beer in port.

I believe that you are billed when you purchase it, so it will be before your cruise.

competition is good for the consumer. Yes I would sail Carnival again. My last Carnival trip was around 1988 on the Jubilee
-
So what package would a Baileys and Coffee fall under?
-
thanks for posting.
This helps me decide if I want the premium or ultimate drink package.
-
thanks for the review. hopefully it will be better for my 11 nighter later on this year.
Did the dinning room have the same menu each night or did it change?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but if you are thinking of the wine flights at Vintages in order to try different wines, I believe I have heard that they are not included in the packages. Too bad really. Marilyn
Actually, I wasn't thinking of wine flights. Just trying many different wines. I think you are right though. I don't think flights are included in a package. Seems kind of silly.

Many of the better wines are not offered by the glass.
bobj
really. That is surprising. I would love to purchase this beforehand (so I can pay it off before cruise), but now maybe I will wait or not get it at all.
I really enjoyed Vintages on the Oasis but might want to rethink the whole thing. I usually don't drink that much on cruises but this one our daughter wont be going and my wife has a special birthday!
-
thanks,
I can't picture a glass of wine more than $12. Ouch.
I saw Vidal Ice Wine offered on the last cruise and it was more than double than back home.

I am currently deciding which drink package to purchase. Basically will only be drinking a few beers and non alcoholic pina coladas. However I do planning on spending my fair share of time at vintages trying new wine selections.
Just wondering the prices of wine at Vintages. If most of the wines are in the $8 range I will go for that package. Depending upon how many of them are in the $12 range, I will change the package.
thanks

another vote on using insurance on any trip over 1,000.

You can use your points for payment purpose or onboard credit.
I had the same problem. I book a 10 day cruise not from royal and then tried to use my 125k points for a free companion. I was told that I couldn't and that I was better off with the deal I received (it was cheaper than the bogo deal).
I did use 100k points for $1,000 off payment. It hasn't showed yet but I was told it would show closer to deadline.

thank you,
I wasn't sure if that was a frozen cocktail which would be the next package up (Premium). I had a regular pina colada last cruise and it was waaay too strong for me. I must be getting old

I am looking at the drink packages for an upcoming cruise and was curious if non alcoholic pina colada would classify as a non alcoholic cocktail under the Select package.
I believe that my wife who had the royal replenish package last year was able to get them but I know things change.
I am mainly interested in the Select package so I can try different wines. Most cruises I will only drink about 6 beers in a week. However on the last cruise I discovered Vintages and something tells me I will be spending some time in there on the upcoming cruise.

do both people in the cabin have to purchase a package? my wife is not a drinker and gets by with the free stuff (tap water / ice tea etc).
-
nevermind. found it on deck plan on deck 6

Not every ship has tapas at Vintages - Serenade doesn't - and my understanding is that the menu Norbert's Niece posted isn't offered on Oasis since her drydock.
does serenade have something similar to Vintages?
what are some other good cruise lines you've traveled on

We did an Alaskan on HAL 2 years ago and will probably try them in the future.
Maybe it was specific to Alaskan cruise but I enjoyed the afternoon Happy Hour as well as the entertainment during happy hour. It was a single guitarist singing mainly songs from 60-80s.
I did think the room was better on rcl and the food was on par. I was a little disappointed with the specialty dining on hal (forgot name). I thought the food was good not great.
I read the link on the new carnival ship due out in a few years and would love to try it
I believe with all these changes at rcl I will cancel my rcl credit card and get something else as I don't believe loyalty is important to them as well as other corporations.
It is all about the bottom line.
