  1. They have been there on the last 4 NCL cruises I have taken. Though on the POA there were no nutella crepes!!

And they didn't use nutella on the Pearl either. I asked for a chocolate crepe and nearly died when they squeezed chocolate syrup all over it. YUCK!

  2. I've read some good reviews on cruise critic about their nachos. My plan is to pay for the nachos and then use my UBP to have a "free" drink :) If the nachos are blah but I like the vibe, I think I might come back only for the drinks. Excited to try it out. I've also heard that the burgers are good, but I'm not a big burger fan.

Good luck with that! That was my plan too on the breakaway in November, but the waiter wouldn't bring me the nachos because it was just me. He said that's for several people.:eek:Good luck with that!

  3. Every time we travel to America or the Caribbean we look for a Margaretville. I buy a tea shirt, don't always eat there and just enjoy the vibe like a previous poster. Is the 5-Oclock bar separate ? Can you sit and chill with a drink listening to Jimmy and other Country stars ? I really hope so.

    Finns up.

    Billy.

Yes, the bar is separate. Treat it just like any other Margaritaville.

  4. I wouldn't say this is about being a strong swimmer for this excursion. It's about are you able to crawl in tight spots and over slippery rocks. That's not for young children. You'll be hating yourself at the bottom of the hill where the baths are. Don't do this excursion.

  5. We did this excursion in 2015 via the Carnival Sunshine.

It was a good excursion and everything was done from the beach so you could remain there if you didn't want to snorkel if that's how they still do it. The beach was very nice and on the southwest side of the cay. There was also a walking trail to the top of the hill that offered a great view.

    Thanks for the response. =)

  6. I'm surprised it doesn't say somewhere that it doesn't apply to all balconies. I could have sworn I've read somewhere how it does not apply to aft balconies. I've used the upgrades a couple of times. I've never tried to book a specific balcony and then price out the inside or the ocean view room.

From what level of inside to what side balcony doesn't make much sense to me though. I've been told it's highest level inside to lowest level balcony, but then the same person took me from an OA to a BA.

The second time I upgraded using 60K points I went from IB to BD angled balcony. No rhyme or rhythm to their system!

  7. Hi all -

I'm researching our excursions for our August cruise on the Vista. We've been to Grand Turk before. I'm looking at the Gibbs Cay/stingray/beach excursion offered through Carnival. I read on a post 3 years ago that they go out to the snorkeling place and leave those who don't want to go on Gibbs Cay. Is this still the procedure? I have no interest in snorkeling, I just want to stay on the beach.

  8. haha, then you may have to drag her around front. ;)

It was 8 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids in each family. We pulled up and the 4 kids and 2 wives were like, "NOPE, we'll eat on the ship"... My friend and I went around to check things out (our first time there too) and found it was awesome around the corner, so we convinced everyone to come around. Needless to say, we'll be back there in June and spending the day at their beach with Topher the dog after we eat.

Topher is the best! We go there just so my son can play with him. The last time we were there, Topher wasn't there. My son asked about Topher and someone drove to where Topher was and brought him to the Shack! =)

  9. We had originally booked a suite on our upcoming cruise. However, we decided to decrease the cruise cost and increase our allowance for private tours. So we changed our suite to an inside room (I1) last month. We are platinum so we thought an inside shouldn't be too bad with the added perks like dinner for two etc.

My husband just called the number to upgrade our inside cabin to a balcony using 60,000 points. He was told that due to booking our cruise last year when prices were lower,we would have to pay 4,000$ on top of our 60,000 points

Has anyone else had this experience?

Someone doesn't know what they are doing. You need to call the Rewards points department directly at 1-866-954-4077. There's a staff of about 8 that handle this.

There is no limit dollar wise to how much the points themselves cover. It's flat out just 60k points to go from inside to balcony. From what level of inside to what side balcony doesn't make much sense to me though. I've been told it's highest level inside to lowest level balcony, but then the same person took me from an OA to a BA (30K points. This is back when they just started giving the real FREE beverage packages with oceanview and up)

The second time I upgraded using 60K points I went from IB to BD angled balcony. No rhyme or rhythm to their system!

  10. So....you could actually purchase 4 rewards ($1000 face value), only pay $500 since they credit your on board account $500 then use all 4 on a single cruise through this method and get $1000 paid for $500? Wonder how many you can use before it won't accept the cruise credit as payment?

Been there. Tried that. I used one for my Escape cruise. Later I was messing with my account online and was shocked I got another to be applied towards payment. No luck on a third!
