Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Great photos! We're sailing on the Jubilee in March. Could you tell us what animal park you went to in Roatan to see the sloths? There are several and it's hard to tell which one is better, less crowded, treat the animals well, etc. Thanks!
  2. I didn't even consider the Bolt! I think we'll say no to this "upgrade." Thanks for all the advice.
  3. My friend and I are booked on Jubilee on March 16th. We chose a balcony guarantee because location isn't that important to either of us. We were assigned Balcony cabin 12494. I just got an offer to "upgrade" to 15499. Both are way aft obviously two decks apart. The price is only $30 but I don't think the cabin on 15 is an offer I should take. 1549 is right below the Lido while 12494 is between two cabin decks. Is there anything I might be missing that would convince me to "upgrade?" Thanks!
  4. I've tried 4 different browsers for Fly2Fun and can't get the page to work at all. I've tried various times over the last week. There is no way to choose my departure airport. I type in the code and it doesn't recognize it nor does it give a pull down menu like it does for HOU (I'm going on Jubilee). It just says "Please choose a valid airport." Really strange and frustrating. I generally book my own air but was trying to see what the cost was with transfers since Houston is a bit of a distance from Galveston.
  5. Exactly what I was trying to get at. There's usually something special in the MDR on formal nights so we leave the specialty dining for regular nights.
  6. That makes more sense. Otherwise, I'd constantly miss breakfast due to sleeping in all morning. Thanks for the info. I hope that holds for our cruise.
  7. Thank you to everyone! This has been an interesting discussion! My question didn't have to do with dressing up. I go to the MDR on formal nights and save the specialty dining for regular nights because usually there's something different in the MDR on formal nights. Nothing to do with the dress code. LOL. The schedule was extremely helpful but now I understand I might not know until I board. The time change is also interesting. I didn't think of that. We might just wing it. The reservations in the personalizer are pretty open for the Crown Grill but fairly booked up for the Italian restaurant except very early or very late. Again, thank you to everyone for the discussion! It was quite enjoyable! Jennifer
  8. I am traveling on the April 16th TA/repositioning cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Southampton and am getting very excited! First TA and longest cruise I've been on! I understand there are 3 formal nights on this particular cruise. Does anyone know when those formal nights are scheduled or how I can find that out? I would like to schedule specialty dining around those nights. Thanks for the help! Jennifer
  9. You're quite right. I didn't see that in the 189 pages of the thread. My bad. 😲 I'll give your suggestions a shot. Thank you! ETA: I used my booking number and got in and then clicked on "cruise personalizer' and it took me back to the regular Pricess website booking summary page! I'm exasperated! I can't do anything with respect to my upcoming cruise.
  10. Thank you. This didn't work either. I was able to log on but when I tried to link the booking, it said "this booking has already been claiimed." What does that mean? This is crazy. The app constantly crashes, I can't do anything. I'm starting to get really frustrated.
  11. App log-in issues. So, I don't know who to contact to fix this. I deleted and reloaded the Medallion app to make sure I have the correct app. I have not sailed Princess since Medallion. I had to cancel my last Princess cruise at the last minute so I never got a chance to try it out. When I try to log-in, it says my log-in information is wrong but it's clearly not since I have no problem logging in on the website. I can access my reservation using the booking number but then, it'll just randomly kick me out. Can anybody help me out or refer me to who to contact to try to resolve this? I use Android. I see someone mentioned a web-based version of the app? Thanks! Jennifer
  12. Depends on your budget and your interests. If you plan on staying on the Strip and your budget is unlimited, I would choose Bellagio, Wynn/Encore, or Venetian/Palazzo. If you want more reasonable but good location, I would choose Planet Hollywood, Mirage, or even Treasure Island. Mandalay is nice, especially their pool area, but farther from everything and can be expensive. If you're on a budget, Bally's, Harrah's, and Flamingo are in a great location but definitely show their age. Flamingo has a beautiful pool area but the rooms leave something to be desired. I would avoid MGM due to size, Luxor, and Excalibur due to being way past their sell by date. If you want to rent a car and stay off the Strip (avoiding parking fees), and see more of the area like Red Rock, Mount Charleston, Hoover Dam, I would recommend Suncoast, Red Rock Hotel (although can be expensive) in the west side of the area. My dad loves South Point which is on the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard (Strip). These are more locals properties. They have free parking, movie theaters, are smaller. If you have more questions, let me know.
  13. It wasn't that I thought Allure was too old but that reviews said that there were issues with maintenance. I have gone on older ships and had a great time but the ships were in great shape and had recently been in dry dock. Thanks for the advice!
  14. Thanks to everyone for their input! Seems unanimous. 🙂
  15. I say "new" because about 25 years ago, I went on a short cruise out of Los Angeles but have no real recollection of it. Anyway, since then, I haven't really stuck to any single cruise line. I have cruised Princess, HAL, Viking Ocean (once), NCL, Celebrity and just recently, Carnival. My least favorite is NCL because we haven't found the food to be very good. Celebrity was my favorite. I have had a good time on all of them. I was really surprised by Carnival. We had a great cruise out of LA on the Panorama. Food was great. Comedians were great. Shows were so-so. Anyway, I'm giving this information because I hope you all can help me. My friend and I are trying to decide between 2 RCL cruises. One is an 8 day on Mariner of the Seas out of Port Canaveral that goes to Bermuda, Nassau, and Coco Cay. The other is an 8 day out of Fort Lauderdale on Allure of the Seas that goes to Labadee, Aruba, and Curacao. The ports aren't extremely important. I've been to all of them except Coco Cay and Labadee obviously my friend has only been to Bermuda but really liked it. I'm more concerned about the ships. I know that Mariner is smaller and older but has received refurbishment. Allure is newer and bigger but I've read reviews that it is showing its age and really needs refurbishment. We have never been on a ship that has so many people. Can any Royal veterans give me a hand in trying to sort this out? The prices are nearly identical so that's not a deciding factor. Thanks! Jennifer
