  1. Panchos Backyard. The original one downtown. You have to go through Los Cincos Soles shop. I have been going to this place for almost 20 years. Been there at least 8 times. FYI- Many times they have a drink coupon on their website. Very popular place with xylophone players which start around noon in the courtyard. I have grown up with the Mom/Dad and now adult children play.

    One of our ports of call is Cozumel for our cruise in October. Anyone know of any good restaurants for a sit down dinner for 3 couples ?

  2. I have rented either a jeep or small 2 person vehicle 4 times in Cozumel. At the Puerta Maya pier almost at the exit of the "village" there are at least 2 car rental places. I have used Avis 3 of the 4 times. You can actually reserve online with Avis if you wish. The last time it was $90 including all Mexican insurance. There is a gas station less than 1 mile from port for you to refuel making it easy.

    I do not want to scare you however you need to be made aware of Mexican law if you are in an accident and weigh the pros/cons of renting a vehicle.

    I have never had an incident while renting/driving in various parts of Mexico over the last 20 years. With that said you do need to be aware of the dangers of driving in Mexico. If you are in any accident of any sort you are automatically considered guilty. If you take out full coverage insurance there may/may not still be a deductible of some sort. With full Mexican insurance coverage if there is car damage there will be no problem with the rental agency. HOWEVER, if there are injuries to a third party you WILL be taken to the jail house for processing where the injured party and their family will decide upon the value of the injury in which you will have to pay in cash. If you want to fight this or do not have the available funds you WILL be held in jail until you can go in front of a magistrate. The ship WILL leave without you and you will be responsible to get back to US once you have either settled with injured party or serve time in jail.

    Has anyone rented in jeep/car in Cozumel? If so, how do you go about doing this? Would you recommend doing this? We will be on the Carnival Dream and should dock at Puerta Maya Pier. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  3. I must have been fortunate. My 12/13/2014 ruby cruise is a HC cabin that I booked Jan 2014. I had one major price drop. $200 pp.

    I've never gotten a price drop either, regardless of the category I happened to be in. Coincidentally my cabins have always been accessible ones.
  4. I was at Princess Cays in Feb. 2014 on the Ruby Princess. This is a tender port. They allowed pax with foldable manual wheelchairs and walkers but not scooters. My Mom had her portable folding wheelchair and was allowed.

    Once in port there were several concrete sidewalks and a couple of the shops had ramps.

  5. If you look at my signature you can see that I am not loyal to just one cruise line. However, for me cabin location and pricing are two major factors for me personally. I would choose the Breeze over the Oasis because I want to have an oceanview balcony AND the $1,400 savings would go a long way toward specialty dining and shorex.

    It will really come down in what your priorities are.

  6. Trying to see which nights to skip the MDR and get a specialty restaurant. Here's the entrees that caught my eye.

    If you've had them, please rate as 3, 2, 1

    3= don't miss this one, it's great!

    2= it's OK, nothing special

    1= avoid

    Fillet of tilapia - 2

    Sweet and sour shrimp - 2

    Lobster tail - 2

    Prime rib - 1 - Have had it twice and both times bad

    Jerked pork loin - 1

    Braised short ribs - 3

    Grilled pork steak Never had

    Grilled jumbo tiger shrimps - 3 Really enjoyed. Have had at least 3 times.

    Martini braised basa fillet - Never had

    Chateaubriand - Never had

    Fillet of mahi mahi - 3 Really enjoyed

    Panko crusted jumbo shrimp

    - 3 really enjoyed more than once.
  7. I did a back-to-back 7 day Eastern/Western on the Dream. The first week was excellent and never had to wait more than 5 to 10 minutes if at all. We ate early most days from 6 to 6:15 pm.

    The second week was totally opposite. Standing room into the atrium at 5:30 pm almost every night. 20-45 minute wait.

    Both cruises had within 100 pax total count on-board. I know there was a partial crew change between two weeks but have no real answer why there was such a dramatic difference between both weeks. Age mix appeared to be similar.

  8. I totally agree with post above. We were docked at Roseau. I took my Mom who was 84 and she could not walk to far. The people were so friendly and offered their wares but were not pushy. We also took the skylift which was so exciting for both of us but it was very expensive at $99 person not for 3 total.

  9. I stand corrected. I have not been on the Breeze and every CCL ship. However my latest cruises on the Dream , Paradise and Ecstasy I was told I could not order room service last day. This is what I get for assuming it was company wide. I will make sure to put out the card on my next CCL cruise.

  10. They do not serve room service last morning. Only DR and buffet.

    On the Triumph in February I hung out my order for room service for debarkation day and no one showed up, I opened the door and my order was still hanging there.

    I assumed then no room service was available for this day though now I'm thinking they just forgot all about me and my coffee & goodies :rolleyes:

  11. I had to show up at port one time without assigned cabin. The porters directed me to an RCCL rep who had a manifest with my cabin number. The porter filled out blank tags and I was on my way.

    Still no word on cabin. Has anyone ever had to wait until they got to the port before knowing? I just can't figure out how to do my luggage if I don't know my room number for the porters if I have to wait until I check in.
  12. I have had the same experience more than once. I love the embarkation DR lunch to decompress from the excitement of boarding.

    My experience has always been that unless you ask no one tells you lunch is available in the MDR. They always have directed us to the buffet. Even when asking about it the have been evasive. Anyone else experience this? I do like eating in the IC before the newbies discover it!
