  1. Don’t blame you. Only reason we are cruising are the cheap casino rates, and I’m retired so if something needs to be rescheduled, no big deal for us. We drive to the ports. But there is zero chance I’d cruise if it was a group of us. I marvel at hearing groups of people having to go through the testing process.
  2. I don’t think you are alone in not cruising until the testing goes away. I’m not going to pretend to know how many people are in that camp but I know quite a few people who haven’t cruised at all because if it, and know several who have cruised, but now don’t want the uncertainty of testing positive at the last minute. Add in the potential cost, and I can see it effecting bookings. I don’t personally know a single person who would stop sailing if testing was eliminated. If that person exists, they probably shouldn’t be sailing now anyway. My next 3 cruises are protected because I have a positive test golden ticket. But I’m waiting on booking anything further to see what happens.
  3. See, the virus only affects certain ships in certain ports. That’s why HA can do this. It’s science! Hopefully, this is an indicator of things to come. When people are far more worried about testing positive because they don’t want their cruise canceled than they are about getting the virus, it’s time to change the policy.
  4. Oceans plaza. Love watching bands play and trivia. Beats the heck out the atrium bar for those things.
  5. The emed are nice. They are what, $30-$35? I I didn’t get insurance reimbursement but it’s just so convenient. And I’m not trying to say that $30 is nothing. Especially with a spouse and kids.
  6. The OBC is more flexible than the casino cash but if only the Premier gives drinks on us, that’s the side I’m on. My wife doesn’t gamble mush at all and still gets plenty of drinks in the casino. It’s not hard at all.
  7. Did you go to comedy and if so, did you need to get in line early?
  8. In a normal situation, what time does boarding start for the Horizon?
  9. Acksually, I saw a memo from carnival brass that said they were tired of certain cruisers avoiding the ordinary masses. This was their way of forcing them to meet new people.
  10. Don’t mean to hijack the thread but how busy was the craps table on the Horizon? In my two cruises so far, it’s been hit or miss. On one, table was hopping. The other, not so much. And I don’t mean was the table winning. I mean people playing.
  11. Correct. Who knows? In the meantime, I had a blast on my last cruise and just glad we are back to cruising.
  12. Straw man argument. Of course they need to comply. And they are if they want to cruise. My point is, there are a lot of people who aren’t cruising because of the testing. And I think way more who aren’t cruising because of the testing than people who would stop cruising if they stopped testing. I feel like I won a golden ticket when I tested positive after my last cruise so I don’t have to test for my next 3 cruises. I shouldn’t have to feel that way. But thems the rules.
  13. Well, under current rules, if you test positive more than 10 days out, you’re good. No need to test before the cruise. Happy cruising. Otherwise, you’ll need a negative test within the 2-3 day window before the cruise. If you test positive then, you’ll need to reschedule. None of has anything to do with how you feel. It all comes down to the test results and the timing.
  14. Agree. And some would say, if the testing stops one person with Covid, it’s worth it. And I say, no it’s not. People assume the risk. Let them decide whether to get on the ship. I know a lot of people who aren’t cruising because of the testing. Not because they are fundamentally against testing. But because they don’t want to deal with the possible last minute cancellation. So they take land based vacations. Covid is here to stay. People can decide if they want to cruise just like they do when they go anywhere in public.
  15. Your opinion on the profit margin of the Cucina is meaningless. You said they didn’t do this to switch staff to help in other areas. You said they did it to save costs. With literally no evidence. That makes little sense. But I’m guessing you probably know that and just want to feel good about your tantrum as to why it’s not open. You might have to suffer and eat with the hot polloi. Oh the horror!
  16. The way I see it: 1) the market has spoken. If cruise lines got rid of testing, enough people would cruise to overcome anyone who decides to tap out. Increasing the testing is silly and ain’t gonna happen. More likely that testing goes bye bye before more testing. 2) you will be exposed to Covid on ships. Just like anywhere else you go. 3) if you want to wear a mask, wear one. No one cares. 4) if you are really, really afraid to get Covid, don’t cruise.
  17. Yep. And if they are going to accept vaccines from a year and a half ago, it absolutely makes sense to do this.
  18. How should I know if I for sure have been exposed? I tested positive. More than 10 days ago and haven’t been exposed to my knowledge. And it’s 100% accurate. As far as I know.
  19. So, Carnival put the breaks on services that generate revenue……as a cost saving tool? Cruise critic is also a place to get outstanding business advice. Who knew?
  20. If we are still in a pandemic, then literally every time I come into contact with anyone, and that’s just about daily, there’s possible exposure. So, it’s not lying to say I’ve been exposed to Covid. Having said that, for my last cruise, I used the emed just for convenience, so paid out of pocket. But my next 3 cruises, positive test so all good.
  21. I think the cost of testing is going to go up just like testing for anything else. But in the meantime, it’s not like CVS needs to know it’s for travel.
  22. Like Horizon>Magic. But like the Magic ports a little more. I love Bonaire because I love snorkeling and it was the best snorkeling I’ve ever done. So I’d give the edge to Horizon.
  23. Not much of one. On my last cruise, we went with my sister who had to use paper documents. It took her all of a minute or two longer than me. But she had her paperwork in order so it was easy for them to review.
  24. Understand. But check out the menu on those nights. If you like the menu, don’t sweat the dress code.
