  1. I called to see about a price drop for one of my recent cruises. I was comped for an inside cabin and bought up to a mini suite. When I saw the price drop, I called CAS because it was before final payment was due. I have previously received price adjustments. They told me it didn't matter if there is a price drop, that there is a set price for any upgrade. Made no sense to me!

  2. We cruised out of NY right through Sandy. Left the port at 4:00 and they closed the port at 6:00. The first 24 hours on the ship were very rough. We were hardly able to walk. In our cabin during the middle of the night, things were being tossed about. However, after that, it was smooth sailing. However, no power at the port upon our return.

  3. At Norwegian Cruise Line, the safety and security of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance. Therefore, the company is closely monitoring the path Hurricane Danny for Norwegian Getaway and Tropical Storm Kilo for Pride of America.

    Hurricane Danny - Norwegian Getaway

Due to Hurricane Danny, Norwegian Getaway will now call in Nassau, Bahamas tomorrow from 8am to 5pm, Ocho Rios , Jamaica on Tuesday from 8 am to 5 pm and Cozumel, Mexico on Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm to avoid the path of the storm.

Tropical Storm Kilo - Pride of America

Pride of America has adjusted her itinerary to spend a day at sea cruising the Napali coast tomorrow, August 23. The ship will call on Nawiliwili on Monday, August 2, and continue on to Hilo on Tuesday with an adjusted port time arriving at 10 a.m. and departing at 8 p.m. Pride of America will call in Kona on Wednesday, August 26, as scheduled. The ship will overnight in Kahului, Maui on Thursday, August 27 and depart at 6 p.m. The ship will arrive in Honolulu as scheduled on Saturday, August 29.

At this time, we do not anticipate any further adjustments to our fleet’s itinerary. Should there be any updates, they will be posted here immediately.

  4. This happened to me recently. No, you cannot combine two of your own certificates into an upgrade, you must use them or lose them.

However, if your cabin mate also has a certificate, that is eligible for a one-level upgrade (e.g., if you both have inside cabins, you can combine to get an oceanview).

You can also pay to upgrade your room, but be aware that the rate is the locked-in Casino at Sea rate. For example, I upgraded to a balcony for $320 pp. Even though a minisuite is currently only $50 pp more than the balcony rate on the NCL site, it would cost me $180 pp more to upgrade from balcony to minisuite through CAS.

What is the "locked in CAS rate"? I've been booking through CAS for years and never experienced this. I can always tell if the price goes down on the NCL site and then contact CAS with price adjustments as long as it is before final payment. If the "locked in CAS rate" is something new, when did it occur and what is it?

  5. I agree that Mr. Del Rio is sacrificing customer service for increased profits.

However, personally, I wasn't real comfortable on the Breakaway in January with the fireworks. Let's be honest, NCL banned smoking on the balconies (please don't flame me!) for safety reasons and now the ship was carrying all kinds of explosives!

  6. Yes Stephen, that is exactly what has happened to me in the past. Unfortunately my final payment was due today and I didn't have a lot of time to be calling back for the best answer. I just wanted to know if it was a change in policy but it sounds like it is not. I will know for the next time.

  7. I didn't say I was complaining about CAS. I was questioning whether the policy changed because I never experienced this flat rate policy before. In the past, I have received an additional discount through CAS because of NCL pricing differences after my initial booking but prior to final payment.

What experience did the rest of you have with pricing through CAS and have you experienced a change in policy?

  8. I called today to make final payment on my cruise. Before I made the payment, I asked the CAS rep to check if the price went down since I originally booked. (I was comped an oceanview and upgraded to a mini-suite). Since I booked, I see that the difference in pricing on the NCL website has changed. The Rep told me that doesn't matter. He told me there is a set rate to upgrade from an oceanview to a mini-suite, no matter what the NCL site shows on pricing.

I've never experienced this before. There have been times when the pricing has changed and I've saved a few dollars prior to final payment.

Has CAS changed their pricing policy?
