  1. Can someone actually share a link to one that would be considered ok for the cruise ship? Thanks.

Here's a basic one you can find in any Walmart.

    power.jpg.b902dc2f4795ed95dc5a316d3938e7e3.jpg

Must haves for us are power strip, fan and night light. All mentioned before. Pretty simple.

  2. Was on the Breeze 4 weeks ago, and they had the view your pictures on the Hub working (although it said beta). With it were options to buy the pictures digitally, but if I recall, the prices were quite high for digital relative to what you could get the physical print for. That being said, beta was an accurate description as I got pictures of others on my hub app and was also missing some pictures that were mine.

It's a nice idea once they iron out the kinks and price it more appropriately.

  3. So here is where I am at now.

Woke up to a new cabin number on deck 12' date=' spa cabin. Saw this on my phone while still laying in bed. Check email and got an email from my TA that says

"Carnival has agreed to give you a free upgrade to a Spa balcony but you will lose you obc.

I am not exactly sure as to what happened, Carnival can't explain as to why either ??"

Ummmmmmmmm so here is what I am thinking is going on... I got a really good discount on this cruise from this TA - this company obviously works in bulk rooms. Now fares for spa cabins have gone even lower than when I first booked, and with his discount he gets, I am guessing he was able to get it for the same money I paid already for my regular balcony, and just did a switch, which on a new deal doesn't have the OBC attached.

Also - I don't even want to be on deck 12 because the balconies have no covers - but seriously I feel like i start to sound like a whiney B**** if I keep on this and asking for changes. Know what I mean?

So now I have lost my OBC due to an upgrade? Makes no sense to me at all! I think the TA is screwing around :([/quote']

Not sure how many days out you are, but if you're not in penalty and the cabin prices are about the same, you could always cancel the reservation and rebook through Carnival direct. That would effectively take away the TA's commission. Plus depending on how far out you are, another promo could come along that you could ultimately switch into as well.

  4. If you have cruised within the past year, and used an inside room, and were happy with it, what is the name of the ship?

I am trying to get as much info I can, as the adults are "depending" upon me to get all the info, so all they have to do, or pretty much so, just board the ship.

4 cruises for us, 4 different ships, 4 people in the cabin each time - all on Riviera midship inside cabins. It's the only way we cruise. The cabins are quiet since they are out of the way of any noisy areas. Use the outside cam channel on the TV as your "window". It's dark at night and brings "light" to your cabin in the morning just like a real window. Night light works as well.

  5. We always take a small fan. Got one from Target for about $18. Does a great job of both cooling and "white" noise to drown out the late nighters.

That's the exact one I take. I put it in a carryon (I saved the box so it looks like it's new). Haven't had a problem getting it on at port Canaveral (twice) and Tampa. Will see how it goes at Galveston this Sunday. It's a great fan that absolutely helps to cool off the cabin and drown out hallway noise.

  6. Sorry to bring up this post again but I just don't understand the Priority Dinner time perk under Dining Reservations?

I am on the waiting list for the 6pm dining time.

I do have the FTTF, does this mean I will get that time assigned?

You should. I had the same situation two years ago. Was able to buy FTTF, but got waitlisted for early dining. I called and the rep said that since I had FTTF, the system would automatically change my waitlist to confirmed with the overnight update. And it happened just like that. I was confirmed as of the next day. I don't know if the rep did anything to make that happen or not, but if you do in fact have FTTF and are waitlisted, the same should happen for you. If it hasn't yet, call and I'm sure they'll fix it.

  7. The shows were really good. We saw one PG comedy show (Kelly something) and he was pretty funny. We enjoyed the Motown show. The 88 Keys show was a bit cheesy but enjoyable. We got a kick out of the towel animal demo and show. The new show, Flick, was really amazing. Highly recommend it. They are still working out some kinks and bugs, and the performers haven't quite hit their groove yet, but that's understandable as it was only the third cruise for this particular show. We did not catch the Country show (none of us like C&W music) and I think there was one more that we didn't make. Music all over the ship was great, especially the Latin band that played in the atrium often.

Thanks for the great review. We'll be on the Breeze in 3 weeks so this is really helpful. I had gotten copies of Fun Times from late May/early June and thought I had all of our entertainment planned out. But it looks like some of the shows have now changed. The shows that I had listed were Motor City, 88 Keys, Divas and Latin Nights. It seems as if Motor City and 88 Keys are still there. Were either Divas or Latin Nights still there or were they replaced by Flick and the County show? Was there still a night with the magician and another night with just Love & Marriage? TIA

  8. Yes. They have always opened our sealed 12 packs of soda and have pulled out every single can to inspect each one. No joke. We have cruised out of Galveston, New Orleans and Port Canaveral, and they did this at each of those ports.

Odd. Each of the last three years - two in Port Canaveral, one in Tampa and we had several 12 packs of soda at each. Nobody every opened anything. Maybe we don't look like drinkers. . . . .

  9. We've had it for each cruise and would never sail without it. Each cruise was different as to which benefits were most useful, but last year had to be the best. At Port Canaveral, there was an issue at embarkation that caused a backlog at the port. Once everything was running smoothly again, there were hundreds of people now waiting outside in 95 degree Florida heat. Once we got to the port, we just walked past everybody right through the priority door with no wait, cleared security, did check in and walked right on to the ship. Worth 50 bucks (old price) by itself.

  10. For those still speculating on the current dry dock, if you believe Carnival's own website, it will include Playlist and Hasbro as both are listed as "coming soon" for Splendor. Nothing listed for Guys, Blue Iguana, Red Frog so I presume a no to all of those.

  11. Am I the only one that is grossed out at the twirling of the napkins in the dining room?

Seriously.... All those germs just flying around the room.

If you're really worried about germs, then you'll definitely want to avoid using your ice bucket. Have actually witnessed little kids using these as their own personal toilets. You can't undo that sight from your brain . . . .

  12. They give the kids a book and the characters "stamp" them. That is the autograph :)

On our cruise, the handlers stamped them. No matter - we were there for the pictures anyway.

To address the prior comment about characters not coming to the tables, we had it both ways on the Valor. As in all of the characters (Thing 1, Thing 2 and Sam I Am) came to the table except for Cat in the Hat. Because of the soffits in the MDR, Cat in the Hat couldn't fit his hat under them to get to the tables. So we had to go to him for pictures. I don't know which other ships the specific MDR layout might cause for him to not be able to get to the actual tables, but that is the reason why he might be standing separately elsewhere.

  13. Sounds fun!!

Can you take pics with your own camera?

Yes. And there will also be staff (i.e. "handlers" for the characters) who will take pictures of all of you with the characters with your camera as well so you can have full family shots. While the Pixel photographers were also there, I found them to be pushy and in the way, particularly since it wasn't an issue to get pictures of your own with your camera.

Not sure why OP didn't like the experience, we (2 adults, 2 kids - 7 and 10) had a blast. We'll definitely do it again next cruise.

  14. What did your kids spend money on?

What "extras" did your kids purchase on board?

I'll be the one to go "off the board" here and give our truthful answer - nothing, as in zero. Their food is already taken care of with all the MDR meals (including dessert at every meal) and unlimited pizza and ice cream on Lido. Entertainment consists of going to all the family comedy and main theater shows each night and additionally deck parties when they exist. Ports are the excursions we've already planned (i.e. forts in San Juan, stingrays in Cayman, beaches almost anywhere, etc). Our kids have been on cruises each of the past 3 summers and haven't spent a dime. Really no need to.

  15. Hello all, I have an upcoming cruise on the Valor and I'm trying to find the best parking that might be available but I'm not sure where the ship is going to be docked at the port. I see on a map that Carnival locations are CT5, 6 and 10 but no mention on which of these are home to the Valor? Does anyone know anything about this? I'm disabled and walking long distances is a little tough for me so I'm trying to get as close as possible. Thanks

Why not park at an offsite facility and let them shuttle you to the port? We used Go Port Canaveral with success. There are many others as well.

  16. If you take a fan on board, does it HAVE to be new/in box?

No, but since you're at the mercy of the port workers who can on a whim decide that your unboxed fan looks "unsafe", I prefer to go the conservative route and box it up to at least give the appearance that it's new (or at least not "unsafe"). ;)
