Slots: first night odds

slot machines is that they are set up with different payback percentages and hit frequencies.

Here are my thoughts. Odds on slot machines can be changed and are probably "networked" together. Would it be to the advantage to have looser slots the first night. NO QUESTION. Do they do it? I have no idea.

Thought I would chime in on this one...my hubby hit on the $1.00 slots on the first night for $400. He'd put in about $80 by then, (of course, I balanced him out on the roulette table!) This was June of 2002 on the Voyager of the Seas.

So, guess where we'll be the first night?

If you want a better chance play table games, you have more control. Won't be many Rocket Scientists or Brain Surgeons on the Slots. No networks or machine setups at the tables, just LUCK.

Slot machines are set up to operate with what are called random number generators. Each spin has exactly the same chance of hitting a jackpot (or losing) as the one before it. Thus, the odds are exactly the same on the first night as on the last. The same is true for video poker, where the odds are solely determined by the payoff schedule.

You got it Yogi, I used to be a slot Tech and the machines are controlled by the number generators. We changed them usually about 3 am by randomly switching E-prom chips from mother board to mother board within a certain bank of machines. Pay-outs always about same, just different machines. Odds are pretty set, it's a guarenteed percentage for the casinos. Table games are a different story the house has higher odds but no guarantee.

I always find it interesting how people say they hit 600 or 900 or 1500 on the slots but never tell you what they spent to get it.

I once went with a friend who brought 500 with him and spent almost the whole 500 to hit a payoff of 500. Well you would have thought he hit the lottery the way he carried on about the 500 he won on a slot machine. I couldnt get it through his head but you spent 480 to win the 500, all you won was 20.00, but no he hit for 500!

Just curious island777girl, what did your jackpots actually cost and what price slot machines were you playing?

I am not a gambler....

I would spend maybe $10.00 tops... on a cruise.

My theory would be let people win the first night....and they'll come back..??

and loose it....lol

I spent 75 cents-3 quarters one at a time... on a cruise and won 75.00 and cashed my money in and was done...My husband was flabergausted and not in a good way.

I was looking at this lady next to me and it was flashing lights and stuff and I said what do I do and she said go get a bucket....lol

As the previous poster said, there are so many winners and so many losers (but a much greater number) every night on the slots, does not matter which night it is. The luck is in where and when you play....right choice is a winner, wrong choice is a loser!:D

Just got off Truimph on 7/16....

would drop $20 a day in slots just for fun and stay till I lost it all...played 25 cent machines. DH on the other hand would lose at the tables and roulette most nights about $100 or so...on night 4 DH is playing roulette and I am waiting for him to get to dinner...I drop a $20 bill into what I think is a 25 cent machine and spin...one my second spin the machine goes wild!!!! I won $500 in a DOLLAR machine. I thought I had 500 in 25 machine..stupid gambler I am hit payout thinking I only had 500 quarters...ooops machine goes bezirk again, the whole time my DH is looking over at me and my dumbfounded face as casino people have to come to reset machine. Woo Hoo...I AM NOT SHARING MY WINNING WITH DH!!!!! ;)

Oh....Derf...log book is intact in the library. You have to ask for it and it is in the left hand side of second desk drawer...crew member working library says when I asked for it "It is one of those things I see all the time but have no idea where it is". I am the one who signed practicing for the Alaska Cruise!!! It was COLD in Canada!!!

A $1500 slot win on a penny machine (of course I was playing $1.00 each spin) is paying for my upcomeing Holiday cruise on Aug 14th. I had put in about $10.00 before hitting it. Now I only need to hit about 10 more of that size to start to break even. Slots are for suckers, but they are fun for the ones of us that are card challenged. In current machines the chips are sealed by the State Gaming Commision officers. Of course the machines on cruise ships are under no such restraints. Another of my favorites is Roulette and that is an even bigger sucker game, with nothing but blind luck on your side to win. Just remember to play for fun and leave the rent money at home.

Ok. I like to play the slots and roulette. Now this is a true story and I'm telling this one because it was the most exciting one I had with slots.

First of all...I allow myself $100 a night for gambling. I went to the Indian Casino in Miami a couple years ago and stayed at their hotel for 3 nights. The first night I took $60 downstairs to play. I played a couple quarter machines and lost about $40 and decided to head back to my room. On the say I passed a machine I thought was a quarter machine and put $20 in it and after 2 pulls it hit for $600. Oh, I was excited...and everyone said, "ok, now quit." So I did...that night.

The next day I took another $60 down to the casino and went to a different bank of machines and put in a 20, and nothing happened, then put in another 20 and I hit the machine for $2000. Well, I REALLY got excited then. I had to go over to the cashier and they had to give me the tax form (for anything over $1400), they wanted my SS card. Well, I didn't have my card on me..and didn't even know where it ever went, so they had to take out the max in taxes (not a problem because I would have gotten in back anyway), but it left me with about $1440. I was so darned mad about the taxes that I went up to the room and my travelling partner was already up there and I threw the money on my bed and told her I won it on the machine. She thought that was great and asked what I was going to do next. I told her I was so mad that I wanted to go back down and win some more so I could make up the money I had to give them back in taxes.

So, I took another $60 down with me, and went to the same machine and lost $40 so I moved to the machine 2 down from that one and played my last 20. It gave me a little and I gave a little back and then I hit THAT machine for $2000. Of course I had to pay taxes on that hit too, but I was ahead of the game and quit for the day.

The next day I went back down and put back about $100, but then quit for good, went home and bought myself a new Canon Digital XT camera with my winnings.

Since then, I've been on cruises and won some and lost some, and I'm probably about even right now, but I still have my camera.:)
