Jaxsonbrownie Posted February 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2008 We are doing an early tour with Joyce Prince. She is dropping us off at Mullett Beach, where we want to relax for awhile. Then we would like to go to Maho Beach, to see some planes land.Is it walk-able? Thanks for any info. Jax:)
Jenbuginutah Posted February 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2008 I just posted the same question to Gary/Kal. Gary said it's only a 10-12 minute walk from Mullet to Maho.
Jaxsonbrownie Posted February 8, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 8, 2008 Thanks Jenbug! I was hoping it was within walking distance so we didn't have to worry about grabbing a taxi for such a short distance! I can handle a 10 minute walk. Thanks again, Jax:)
gtaylor Posted February 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2008 The 10-12 minute figure was from Mullet Bay Beach out to the Maho complex to catch a taxi. Maho Beach is just a bit farther, but the entire distance is flat and easily walkable. (click) gary

shygirl Posted February 8, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2008 Could you confirm the path? Walk around the golf course (right on your picture) Past the shopping street Past the casino. Is this ok? Thanks
gtaylor Posted February 8, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 8, 2008 I would just follow the road through the area. There may well be a shortcut across the golf course and through the resort, but I'm not personally aware of it. I've marked my path on this new Google Earth shot. (click) By the way, after the second jog leaving Mullet Bay Beach, that's the main road around the island. Be careful. gary
plannermom Posted February 18, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Once you get past the golf course, and are walking along next to all the shops, stop for ice cream at the Häagen-Dazs store. It's a nice break!
Texalana Posted February 23, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Thanks for marking the location of Guy's Driftwood Boat Bar and also the grocery store on this map! (I was asking you about the boat bar on another thread and I'm really looking forward to those $2 beers next month. :D ) Now I can really get a good idea of the location in relation to the Sunset Bar. You are the man!!! Texalana :)
gtaylor Posted February 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2008 The grocery store is the Lido Food Express, and it is small, but is a full service grocery store with fresh vegetables through all the canned goods to booze and cold beer. They also have a food buffet with breakfast/lunch/dinner offered by the $$ kilo. We shop there a lot. Enjoy! gary
shygirl Posted March 25, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 25, 2008 Just got back, we cabbed it to Mullet beach and walk to Maho. My In-laws were a bit apprehensive about being the only ones walking with no sidewalks. But once we got to the shopping area we were fine. After 4 planes at Maho, we went to the grocery store and purchased liquer and soda. Liquer was CHEAP! Walked towards the casino and a local bus with PhilipB sign was waiting empty across the road. $2 back to Phillipsburg and $2 more to the pier. Still beats $7 each by cab. We got stuck waiting for the bridge but did managed to enjoy sitting with locals and hearing a different French. Bus dropped us off in front of the pier gate and he was not allowed in. Mullet beach was a bit crowded. 2 sets of chair vendors along the left(facing water) where the water was more calm. We wanted to just lay our towels down and jump in the water; so we were closer to the middle by the volleyball courts. Tons of white/silver fishes at our feet about 5inches in length. We had Rosie's bbq ribs for snack; very good! and inexpensive.

McDebbie Posted May 2, 2008 #17 Share Posted May 2, 2008 Gary or Kal, we enjoyed St Martin so much we want to do the next trip by air instead of just a one day cruise. Looking from sunset beach across the water I noticed what looked like three hotels or condos, do either of you know the names of those places? Looking from sunset beach across the water I noticed what looked like three hotels or condos, do either of you know the names of those places? You're referring to Maho Beach, where Sunset Beach Bar is located. Looking across the beach, from that perspective you will see three distinct structures. (Looking for a photo) To the left you will see the section of Royal Islander known as Le Plage, then the Sonesta Maho Resort, then, across the street, the Royal Islander La Terrasse complex. gary btw, Both kal and I are on the island; I have internet and he does not.
