Private tour guides in Stockholm - Stoex, Asa & Nordic Visitor

I am researching for a private tour in Stockholm.

Would like to hear any feedback from anyone who has booked private tours with Steox - Steinthor, Nordic Tours - Klara or Stockholm Tour Guides - Asa Danielsson.

If I may inject a thought. If you are just planning on doing the 'usual' things in Stockholm: the Vasa, Gamla Stan, the Palace and maybe the Changing of the Guard, you really do NOT need a private tour. What you really need is transportation and that's it.

In the Vasa Museum, there are NO private tours. If you book a tour, they will take you there, but once inside, the Museum has their own guides and tours and outside tour companies are not used.

Same for Gamla Stan. This is an area where you just want to explore, walk around on your own. I do not believe any cars are allowed, and the entire fun of it is to just walk around and see what you can find. There is really not much of historical interest except maybe the Nobel Museum. I simply do not remember any tours in this second when we were there.

Also, if you want to see the Palace and the Changing of the Guard, it is simply a place to watch and no tour can do anything special for you.

IMVHO, tours are useless inh Stockholm, unless you are looking to see things out of the ordinary.

If you go by boat the you'll be at the palace at around 10.30 if you can make it to the 09.30 departure (which you should be able to do with margin).

If you go by bus/metro the journey from the cruise ship to Drottningholm will take about 40 min and you can plan your journey so that you are at Drottningholm when they open at 10.00 and the 10.00 guided tour.

The return journey with bus/metro+walking the final 500m will take about 40-45 min.

As for the Stockholm card, in this case I think you will benefit from having the Stockholm card.

The cost is as following:

Bus+metro from the Cruise ship to Drottningholm: 66sek/person for one way= 132SEK 100% covered by the St Card.

Boat trip cost is 180SEK, 45SEK discount with St Card.

Entering Drottningholm+Kina Slott 180SEK 100% covered by the St Card.

So with bus+metro the value of the card is 312SEK and the card cost is 495SEK.

Then if you want to enter the Royal Palace in Gamla Stan and/or some of the other museums like the treasury and/or the Tre Kronor museum.

That will be another 150SEK cost for a ticket that includes all of these.

This will bring you up to 462SEK which is about 30SEK short of the purchase cost but with a bus back from Gamla Stan to the cruise ship

with a cost of 44SEK will bring the value of the card passed the purchase cost.

Also even if you don't use 100% of the value of the card with the things

you want to do, the convenience of the card will probably be worth it.

From the Royal Palace its almost 2.5km to walk back to the ship but if you have the Stockholm card you

can walk down to Kornhamnstorg and go with bus #53 towards Henriksdalsberget or Finnberget
