has anyone sailed out of New Orleans?

Found this thread. Apparently the casino will open shortly after sailing but if you win, you have to pay Louisiana taxes.

If you get one at Harrah's New Orleans they automatically withhold a percent for the state of Louisiana.

You can then file a really complicated LA state return to get all or most of it back.

Casino opens about 30 or 40 minutes after sailaway.

That’s one good thing about the long river cruise... casino goes ahead and opens because gambling is legal in Louisana.

cruised twice out of NOLA, thought the trip down the Miss river was very interesting, much to look at, daylight for a little while, then the lights from the oil rigs, different than out of Miami for example. Drink taxes were in place until about midnight, and the same coming back, taxes started about 11pm. no biggie. Have many cruises, NOLA is a favorite port of departure for sure!!
