Cruising out of NOLA, when does the casino open?

Used to cruising out of Galveston, but I know it takes a while to get out of NOLA, heading down the MS river.

Should be open after leaving the dock. Harrah has a big casino right near the port. Gambling is legal in Louisiana.

Casino will open anywhere from 1-2 hours after pulling away. They are allowed to have it open while sailing down the river.

Don't quote me on it - but I'm pretty sure the casino on the Triumph opened shortly after muster, when I sailed last fall

Yep, opens not long after leaving port. And open on the way back, too. Not sure when they close it coming back.

Just a few minutes after leaving dock, like 10 minutes.

The casino is open while coming and going on the river but if you win, you will pay Louisiana taxes.

Thanks for your responses...when you have a DOU card, the opening of the casino becomes important. Now, what's this I hear about a Louisiana Tax on winnings? If you just play blackjack I don't know how over a week's time they can keep up with that.

When you earn a certain amount of points on your cruise (5000 for slots, unsure for tables) your offer will include the DOU card for the next cruise. Make sure you bring a copy of your letter that states this.

When you board, the casino host should have your card ready and waiting. If they don't, show them the letter and they can look it up and give it to you.

Adam3313 is correct, it came with the offer, I've never had a problem with getting the card from the casino host, but not a bad idea to bring the letter, just in case!
