Anyone Club Royale Members?

Recommended Posts

DH & I spend waaaaaaaaaay too much time in the casinos aboard ship. I have a hard time playing on RCCL boats because unlike Las Vegas/Reno/Tahoe/Other Cruise lines, I have never had a "Player's Card", thus never been "rewarded" for losing in their casinos. I was just looking around and see that they have "Club Royale" for players. Does anyone know the fine line things about it? Do we need to sign-up before we embark? Do we need to establish a credit line before we embark? I'd love to know the details.

Thanks to everyone!

I e-mailed them last week about Club Royale and what you had to do to qualify. Here's their response:

Dear Mary:

Thank you for inquiring about our Club Royale, Royal Caribbean's new player program. Players are invited to join the program by the Casino Managers onboard based on the amount of time played and average bet. To qualify a player must play at least three hours per day during their cruise, placing the following minimum bets: Blackjack/Dice at $50.00 per hand/roll; Caribbean Stud/Let It Ride/Three Card Poker /Roulette at $25.00 per hand/spin; Slots at $5.00 per spin. Guests who play to the above qualifications will be invited to join our players program. After qualifying, then the member will be offered discounts off future cruises based on level of play.

We also have on seven of our ships: Sovereign of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Serenade of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Enchantment of the Seas, and the Liberty of the Seas automated player tracking for our slot machines. These allow guests to earn points for onboard redemption of gifts. These points expire at the end of the voyage. This is separate from our players program.

Once you are onboard and the casino is open, you should introduce yourself to the Casino Manager so that you can have your play tracked. If your play merits, you will be invited to join the program and start to earn discounts towards future Royal Caribbean cruise vacations.

If you require additional funds for gaming while onboard you have three options:

1. You may take up to $2,000/day per person in the casino on your Sea Pass Account in order to purchase chips or coins for gambling in the casino. Your SeaPass account must be backed up with a credit card that will authorize these amounts. Charges are listed as "entertainment" on your account and do not carry interest charges.

2. You may take cash advances against your credit cards. These do carry fees and there is a limit from American Express of only $10,000 per voyage.

3. You may complete the below credit form and if approved you will be able to write a personal check for the amount you require for gambling while onboard. You may take markers against this pre-approved amount, however all debts must be settled before the end of the voyage.

We hope that we've been able to answer your questions.

Regards,

From my humble experience I noticed its hard then a witches :) to get into the "club roayle" last voyage on voyager I spent an average of 2 hours per NIGHT in the casino playing dice and or black jack, my bet inBlack jack was around 50-100$ per hand and on craps 100$ per roll. i wasnt told about the program by the casino manager whom I knew, I had to nag him all week for a damn free shirt that said "high roller" I found out about the program after my cruise and when asked about it I was just told that my play wasnt enough for it or I would have been invited, so personally I say screw it Ill just play elswhere, I am a diamond member so I am used to being taken care of and this casino business seems far bent from gold anchor service :) the best feedback is done with ones FEET

I am a Casino Royal VIP member. I was approached on my Liberty Cruise B2B on the 2nd leg by the Casino host. They must of been monitoring my play on the slots for the 1st week and ask me to join. I have received perks on every cruise I have taken since then. I enjoy gambling too, and it'snice that you can get a reward for gambling. It doesn't matter if you win or loose, as long as you play the quoted amount and time, you will keep your membership. Being qualified as a member does not make you a member for life. Each cruise you have to requalify!

Some of the perks are free drinks while in the casino. Based on yur play time and amounts, your will get money discounted off your next cruise ( I have received as much as $1475.00 off of a cruise). You get free invites for Slot tournaments ( sometimes your cabin is included , complementary, you must pay port taxes and fees). Most of the Free Cruise Tournaments are 3-5 days. I only like to cruise for 7+ days, so I never take up the offer.

The Casino Host is the one who can monitor your play and join you up!

Good Luck.

Here is a glance at some of the offers!

My husband is a club royale member, he was approached while we were on the Mariner in august 07. We even got $600.00 off from club royale for our mariner cruise in 08. It's free why not?

I am a VIP member - was approached about 2 years ago when it was a hush hush program. They treat you nice - free drinks all cruise long and lots of credits for each cruise. Everyone that works in the casino knows you by sight because they have your picture. They suck up pretty good and act like stalkers all cruise long. It is a nice perk - but you have to be a fairly big player to get invited and spend lots and lots of time - 4-5 hours a day consistently playing....not pennies either!!

It's interesting that the letter doesn't say anything about charging a fee for taking money out on your seapass in the casino.

I got money from my SeaPass card in the casino last year and there was no fee charged for that. Were you charged for doing that?

I remember being charged by Carnival for that privilege, but Royal Caribbean didn't charge anything.

No, I have never been charged a fee, and I have sailed as recently as April on the Enchantment. However, several posters have indicated that RCCL seems to be doing this on certain ships.

I see Massfriends gave you the answer. She probably knows more about the comp cruise's than I do!:) She is correct ( you can also take a guest), as for the slot tournaments, I have no clue!:D

I will be taking my 1st VIP Casino Royal Cruise on Jan 19, 2009 ( as I stated before I DO NOT cruise for less than 7 nites), so I never got an invite for 7 nite or longer cruise's, they were all shorter ( 4 or 5 nite cruise's). This is the 1st time I had the opportunity to cruise for a 10 nite cruise with the casino Royal, so I am going!!!:p They had several choices of 7+ nite cruise's to pick from and I choose the Jewel, Panama Canal!

I am looking forward to it!:o

Thank you both for your quick replies.

My DH has an invitation for a comp cruise and we are looking at the Mariner 12 July 09, as we will be able to drive to the port.

The Jewel Panama Canal sounds like a great cruise. Enjoy!

I was invited to join after my last cruise. I will be sailing in January with my new Royale Card. However, this time i'm sailing with a friend who does not gamble. I can't just leave my friend alone each night for several hours while I gamble. Will they pull my card since I won't be gambling much on this cruise ?

They actually do not take your card.

What most likely will happen is you will not qualify for any discounts off your next cruise, or earn any $$ credit.

You have to play a min. of 2 hrs a day and they do monitor your play time.

It has never happened to me, that I didn't earn for my next cruise, but when your cruise is over, you take your VIP card home with you, just like your Seapass card!:)

As a clubroyal member on Majesty in Nov. they did not charge Me 3% on seapass cash. In the casino DW took money on her seapass was charged 3% . This club I believe is not set up to attract gamblers to cruises but it does reward those that cruise. The kind of play they require if was a land based casino would reward 10 x more. Also table players arent a priorty I have sailed Royale 6 times after first was invited to club .I only play tables and have always met min req. never invited on free cruise but do get nice cash rewards so I Thank Them

My husband and I were approached and asked to fill out the papers for the Club Royale. I play slots and my husband plays Carribean Poker and Roulette. We filled out the forms and guess we will hear back from them. The slot manager was buying me drinks, so that helped with SeaPass account. I hit several nice jackpots the largest of which was $2,900 ($5 slot) at one time. No taxes is GREAT!!! I was on the Serenade 1/3/09 sailing and was pleased with the $1 and $5 slots!

Good Luck to all!!

Thanks for the info PMSHIRL. So, they won't take my card. But, will it still work for the free drinks on the next cruise I take ?? Also, I assume the free drinks in the casino are only when you are actually gambling. Is that correct ?

I plan on picking out a few days of the cruise to gamble. Will they still honor my card if I don't go to the casino until the 3rd day of the cruise ?

Usualy once you show server your card they don't ask for it again.I have sat at casino bar between gambling and no problem they serve you. I do tip them cash and they remember.A couple of times the servers didn't know what the blue VIP card was and casino host had to tell them.I would like to know how many VIPS out there that most times on ship only other member is a friend.

I was "invited" into Club Royale last January on Mariner. I'm happy to report that I have gone on one of Slot tournament cruises (It was fabulous. Thanks, RCI!) and drinks in the casino were 'free' all week. In October was on Vision. Showed CR card when I went to the casino. They already knew I was coming so were extremely hospitable the entire cruise BUT I paid for all drinks after that. No one told me to just show my blue card and they'd be free. The casino staff knew I was CR member and called me by name. I am a little upset that no one said one word about free drinks.

Also, in October I was told that there would be no more slot tournament cruises for the rest of 2008. The only offer I've seen so far was an email this week offering reduced rates for CR members. I spent a ton of time and $$ in the Vision's casino and can't imagine not qualifying for more free cruises. Are you saying that there are now slot tourneys available and I am not getting offers? Geez! The OP was correct about comparable perks for time/money spent at casinos in Vegas et al. But being able to sail and play at the same time is the best vacation ever for us.

One week from tonight we'll be in Galveston for our Voyager sailing on 1/25/09 (my birthday!)
