CHOPPERTESTER Posted September 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2009 My DH Chopper and I will be sailing on the Spirit Sept 18th to Bermuda and I see by checking menus for specialty restaurants that they used to have 2 for 1 specials. Are they still doing it?
dtiger Posted September 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2009 You never know, it's supply and demand. If there aren't a lot of people booking the reservations they'll have 2 for 1 but it usually for the very early and very late time slots.

jame_g Posted September 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2009 I've seen 2 for 1 on some cruises, and not on others. When it's offered, it is usually only the earliest and/or latest timeslots. At least on the cruises that I've been on.
TrikeRider Posted September 5, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2009 On the Gem this past April, there were 2 for 1 in a few restaurants for early times, ~5pm to ~7pm - asian, mexican and I believe italian - never at Cagneys or LeBistro.
njmelis24 Posted September 5, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2009 On the Jewel last year on the Canada/NE cruises there were several nights where Mamas, Tangos, and Le Bistro were 2 for 1. If I remember correctly it was only offered on port days. It was usually reservations prior to 6pm and those after 8pm.
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted September 5, 2009 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2009 Is there any way to make reservations before boarding the ship or must you do it the minute you get on board?
cpdad Posted September 5, 2009 #10 Share Posted September 5, 2009 Is there any way to make reservations before boarding the ship or must you do it the minute you get on board? Sorry, you cannot make any advance reservations. You must wait until boarding. But in my experience, you need not rush to do this the minute you board. I have never had any problems getting into a specialty restaurant, even without any reservations at all. The only exception has been Teppanyaki, which has very limited seating and specific dining times. Other than that, there was little need for reservations. I love the flexibility of not making advance reservations, but if you prefer to plan out your cruise as soon as you board, then there will be a small reservations desk in the main lobby, near the reception desk. Thanks for the quick answer.:) Actually we are only going to be on 2 nights since it is a Cruise To No Where and the first night we want to do the Teppanyaki and Cagneys the 2nd night. Although if we cannot get into Teppanyaki our back up will be Le Bistro. Any idea how late or how early the Sushi & Sake place is open?
DMH15 Posted September 6, 2009 #12 Share Posted September 6, 2009 The specialty restaurants do fill up fast on short cruises. I would suggest boarding early and making your reservations asap. On the CTN the spa books up fast too and the casino is packed and with higher than usual table minimums. People are packing as much as they can into the short cruise. Are they still doing it? I just got off the Spirit on 9/4/09......I did not see any 2 for 1 although I heard on the boards that it sometimes happens.... I can tell you that I ate at Bistro and it is probably the best 15 dollars pp you can spend on the ship. I would also suggest that you try the jazz brunch which is 15 pp and it is a beautiful intimate brunch with great music and great service. But for anyone who can't do the specialty restaurants I can tell you that every meal I had on the ship weas great and the food quality in the main dinning rooms is wonderful. I can't wait to get back on the Spirit her staff is what makes that ship top shelf.

debjo Posted September 6, 2009 #15 Share Posted September 6, 2009 For CHOPPERTESTER... We're also sailing on the SPIRIT on 9/18/09. There is a ROLL CALL BOARD for this sailing at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=879480&page=15 . You might want to check it out and join us. The person that started this ROLL CALL has also arranged for NCL to sponsor a MEET & GREET for our Cruise Critic cruising bunch. I've also been wondering if there will be any 2 FOR 1 Specialty Restaurant nights, but haven't seen that any recent SPIRIT cruisers have mentioned any. The last time we sailed on the SPIRIT (May 2008) we dined at CAGNEY's for dinner on Embarkation Day and took advantage of the "2 for 1" night on that sailing, which was for Embarkation Day only. Guess we'll have to see what we discover when we board the ship in just a few more days! Debjo
ETski Posted September 7, 2009 #16 Share Posted September 7, 2009 Just off the Dawn and there was 2 for 1 on sea days at Salsa, Bamboo, and Impressions. Was the 2 for 1 all evening or just certain times and where was this info posted? We are boarding the Dawn next Sunday. We plan to do several of the speciality restaurants. I do realize that what is done on one cruise may not be done on another cruise. Hope you had a great cruise.

It was in the Freestyle Daily that we were given in the terminal. It was only for certain hours 5:30 to 7 I think on sea days, which included Sun, Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat.
