flipflops vs skiboots Posted September 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2009 Has anyone taken the ferry from St. Thomas to Water Island? If so can you describe it and do you know how to rent golf carts to tour the island in? Thank you!
O2B@Cagain Posted September 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2009 Basically, the golf carts are owned by residents, no rentals. You can hike around, if you wish. You won't get lost!
flipflops vs skiboots Posted September 5, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted September 5, 2009 Thank you for the golf cart info. Is it an easy walk to hike around the island, we will be bringing my 70 year old mother? How far from the ferry is the beach?
lostdart58 Posted September 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2009 Thank you for the golf cart info. Is it an easy walk to hike around the island, we will be bringing my 70 year old mother? How far from the ferry is the beach? While it isn't that far, it is up and over a small hill and it will be HOT!!
MartyC Posted September 7, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 7, 2009 It is quite a steep hill coming and going. I would bet though that someone on the island with the golf cart will see your 70 year old mother and offer to take her in their golf cart. It is a great spot to go to and well worth the effort. Honeymoon beach is one of the nicest we have been to and we have been to many.
coronawomen Posted September 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 16, 2009 Where do you catch the ferry for water island? What is there to do on water island? Believe it or not, after 10 trips to St. Thomas and 2 of them staying the week, we have never made it over there. Next month we WILL be checking it out. Do we need to bring our own beverages, cooler, food, etc...?
The Islander Posted October 5, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2009 coronawomen - you catch the Water Island ferry from the Crown Bay Marina (which is a short walk from the Crown Bay Cruise Ship Dock). Water Island is a very small island, mostly residential. You can walk around to explore, there is a bike tour, you can go to the beach. You can bring some snacks and water. At Honeymoon Beach there is a food van that sets up around lunch time and it has burgers, sandwiches and things like that. And a beach bar sets up too and it has drinks. Elsewhere around the island if you are walking around there isn't anywhere to get anything to eat/drink. --Islander
