tryptaker Posted September 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2009 We were thinking of booking the Windsurf for a holiday with my 76yr. old mother. She does have some mobility issues -ie: walking long distances, climbing....would this ship be difficult for her? thanks!:)

There aren't any handicapped cabins on this ship, but there are two elevators, though I've never used them. It is not the best ship for someone with mobility issues. I don't know what itinerary you are considering, so can't comment on the walking and climbing issues. It depends on the port whether you would tender in or not. I can tell you she would have difficulty climbing down to the tenders and getting in and out, especially if it was a bit rough.
tryptaker Posted September 10, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted September 10, 2009 Thanks for the info. No, she is not in a wheelchair but has had a hip replaced and tends to be a bit lame and has problems lifting one leg. Will check with Windstar to see if they use tenders on the Caribbean itinerary - thanks again.
Riverroad Posted September 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2009 If you tell us what ports you'll be cruising to in the Caribbean it will be easier to give you an answer. Windsurf sails two itineraries in the Caribbean and it's likely that you'll have several tender ports.
