NYC ~ Statue of Liberty, Skyline & lights

It's my first time cruising out of NYC. I believe we'll be leaving from the Manhattan terminal @ 5pm in November.

Will we pass the Statue of Liberty? How long after we leave 'til we pass it - wondering if it will still be light enough out for a few pictures? Hopefully we will see the city skyline at night? Any other sights to keep an eye out for?

Thanks!!

You didn't give the exact date you're sailing, but sunset in NYC on Nov 1 will be 4:52 pm and by November 30 will be 4:29.

You will pass the Statue of Liberty...it will be on the starboard side, while Manhattan will be on the port side. You will pass the Statue of Liberty a few minutes after you depart.

yes all cruise ships that leave the Manhattan cruise terminal see the skyline and Statue of Liberty....

those that leave from Brooklyn get a fairly close look at the Statue and some of the skyline and those that leave From Bayonne get no closer than a mile to the Statue of Liberty and see the skyline at a reasonable distance.

Usually Carnival ships don't start to push back from the pier in New York until a bit after published departure, and even then, the process of backing out, and beginning to sail forward down the river takes about 20-30 minutes, from first movement through passing the Statue of Liberty. So you can count on it being dark by the time you sail that time of year.

The NYC skyline at night is amazing. However, it may be hard to get good photos of the Statue of Liberty when it's that dark at night.

Have fun!

She is lit up by floodlights at night and is easily seen!
