What exactly is Included

I am hoping someone can clarify a few things for me.

The website lists:

Your cruise fare includes:

Stateroom accommodations featuring all the comforts of home

Personalized service

Dining options

Opulent Casino

Onboard Activities

Kids Club programs

24-hour Room Service

State-of-the-art Fitness Facility

Library and Card Room

A variety of Nightclubs and Broadway Style Shows

It also noted that "Cocktails, coffees and a wide range of drinks can be purchased on every deck and in all the bars."

With that said, I have read that there is no sur-charges for juices in the morning. Iced tea and lemonade seem to also be available (at least during lunch).

As far as room service, I have read on here that only breakfast is "free." Is the Costa website misleading on that, or is room service always included?

I realize that there are some specialty restaurants with a sur-charge, but are there places (other than the main dining room and buffet) which are already included in the fare?

Are things such as the Grand Prix Simulator already included in the base fare?

In general, all food is included in the price of the cruise, with the exception of the specialty restaurants. The other exceptions are in the specialty cafes that are on some of the ships. The specialty coffees and desserts are not included. There could be other exceptions on the larger ships that have more food service options.

Food included in the cruise price is served in the main dining rooms, buffets, cafes, pool grills, pizza bars, pasta bars, and various other places, which vary on each ship. I believe all room service food is also included in the price.

Juices, tea, and coffee is also included, but, strangely, this last summer, there was no iced tea on my Asia cruise. Perhaps I missed it.

I don't know what the Grand Prix Simulator is, exactly, but all the video and simulation games that I've seen require you to pay for playing.

Is lemonade or some child friendly drink included at dinner? I assume soda is not included at anytime? I read on the website that snacks had a several euro charge. Is that the case on Caribbean trips, and are charges made in euros or US dollars for extras while onboard?

We have just returned from cruising on the Costa Mediterranea.

All your meals on board are included in the fare, this includes the pizzarea and the afternoon teas and midnight buffets. The only resturant that required payment was the specialty resturant.

You are able to get room service 24 hours a day and I don't think there was any extra charges (We did not use it)

An assortment of juice was available at breakfast, but not iced tea and this was free.

All other drinks need to be paid for. We had the X1 package with saved us a tonne of money. This allowed us to have unilimted beer wine & softdrinks during lunch & dinner in the resturant and the buffet.

Coffee (instant) & tea is available 24 hours from the buffett, you are able to buy a coffee package on board.

We do not drink alot of coffee so I was happy to pay as I went.

You do get free Cappachino with room service breakfast though.

The elegant tea on sea days was a great treat and this is also free.

All the entertainment, shows and onboard activites are included in the fare.

The casino is free to sit in!!!

The arcade games are not included ans a little expensive.

The use of the gym was included.

The kids centre and activities are all included in the fare & where very good.

Internet time was a bit pricey.

Laundry was a little expensive, but you need clean clothes!!!

They do offer a promotion toward the end of the cruise 25 items for 20 euro.

Hope this helps:)

At dinner only iced "tap" water is free, any other drinks have to be paid for, unless you have bought one of the drinks packages.

What do you mean by snacks?

If items are ordered via room service then they are chargeable to your onboard account together with a room service charge, only breakfast in the cabin is FOC.

In the Caribbean charges are in US $.

The charge for room service other than breakfast is a new thing to me. On my other cruises it was always included in the fare. No charge, no service fee. We always just gave a cash tip. Thanks for clarifying that.

Only tap water included at dinner is a new thing as well. Good information to know.

This is from the Costa web site about Room Service:

Is cabin service available?

To receive breakfast in your cabin and treat yourself to a really enjoyable morning you just need to complete the special menu and hang it on the outside handle of your door in the evening before going to sleep.

Snacks may be ordered 24 hours a day with a simple phone call. Note that these are provided for an extra charge and that a service charge of 15% is payable on orders of wine and drinks.

In the buffet area (also during the evening), coffee, tea, water, milk, ice, ice cream is normally available FOC.

That is also my experience on NCL and Carnival cruises. So unfortunately Costa charges for non-breakfast room service. That's not so good then.
