snorkelingsearchers Posted September 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2009 Hey Guys, We are planning on doing our own thing in GC, getting in some great shore snorkeling and buying some rum cakes - with this being a tender port it sounds like too much of a hassle to go back to the ship for lunch - so we want to have a couple of places in mind in case we get hungry. Any ideas?
Rare lazydayz Posted September 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2009 We grabbed lunch at Royal Palms and it was tasty. Loved this beach area, the local beer and our bartender. All in all, a great way to spend the day.
Capt_BJ Posted September 29, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2009 If looking for a low cost meal on GC you'd best stay on the ship.... Remember the exchange rate is fixed at $1 CI = .80 US .... a fixed rate (she may look 20, but she's 16 CI). Even Burger King may sock it to you. {A hamburer at $7.50 CI is $9 US ... a Red Stripe @ $3.50 CI is $4.20 US} But .... I go to My Bar at Sunset House .... too far for many and that's a strong point in my opinion.....first visit over 20 years ago and still my destination....next visit booked for May '10 (you might see crew here, but few pass' !) http://sunsethouse.com/images/Snack_Menu.pdf

Uh... make that US$1 = CI$0.80 A menu that reads $10 here normally means CI$10... that's US$12.50. Some table service restaurants automatically add a 15% gratuity as well... so that CI$10 lunch is US$14.38 after the exchange rate and tip. snorkelingsearchers Posted September 30, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Thanks Guys! My Bar seems reasonable enough. You just keep walking pass Eden Rock, right? I have just heard that GC is SOOO expensive - I don't want to drop $50 on lunch for two!
Capt_BJ Posted September 30, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2009 I 4 sure got my zippidy b4 my doodah on that one. If price is in CI, add one fifth to get U.S.! good thing I'm married to a CPA who handles the money.... Yep, Sunset is just a bit past Eden Rock ... 0.8 miles from town/tender landings
