Imagination delayed due to lightning?

Heard from a friend last night that the Imagination had been hit by lightning just as the ship was about to depart Miami and had been delayed.

Does anyone have any more info on this?

Yes......my daughter and her husband are onboard for their honeymoon. They did finally depart around 9:00 p.m. The lightning apparently affected the navigation equipment, so there were no injuries or anything like that. Seems like everything is fine.

Wow! good thing Key West isn't too far away, hopefully they will not lose any port time due to the delay.

Did they comp the passengers in any way?

Isn't being hit by lightning an "act of God"? Seems to me that delaying the departure to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment is in the passengers' direct best interest. They can still enjoy themselves and all activities while on board (even if the ship's still in port). Not sure that a 'comp' is warranted. Just my two cents.

Navigation system? Ah, who needs navigation on a cruise. No wonder they departed anyway. :D

Yes they did... they compt the passengers by making sure of their safety and well being by not going out to sea and getting lost without a navigation system.

Jeeze, it was just a question......I was just curious.

I don't think anyone was flaming you here. Speaking only for myself, I responded to your post as I did because I work for a company that 'comps' way too many things for guests that complain about the most miniscule things. They complain, not because they are wholly dissatisfied, but because they know that if they complain, they will get something for free. Some companies that issue comps for every little thing end up teaching customers that: if the most insignificant detail goes awry in only the slightest way, the guest can complain (or in some cases, may not even need to complain) and a comp will be issued. On one cruise, a hurricane impacted our initial embarkation point, and instead of departing on Saturday afternoon, we departed on Monday night at 10PM. The reason for the more than 48-hr delayed departure was that more than half the ship's passengers were unable to fly into our airport because it had been closed due to the hurricane. The ship was not going to sail half-full.

They delayed the departure to give the many passengers on the delayed flights a chance to meet the ship. We were issued a credit to our credit cards of $164 (without asking, not that we would have--we were still on the ship partying as if we were at sea) because our 7-day had just turned into a 5-day. But, for us, it was still a 7-day as the only way to know that we were still in port was to look out of the window.

Just goes to show what kind of company Carnavial really is and what they think of their customers..... Any other cruise company would have refunded the full fare, given a 100% cruise credit on a future cruise, and free drinks during the delay ~~!!~~

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeezz, good time for a lawsuit..........

Not quite true. Wouldn't the casino remain closed until after sailing? I agree tho. I don't think a comp is warranted.
