Urban Chic Posted January 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Can anyone suggest a good restaurant for lunch in Grand Cayman/? (preferably one where I could sit outdoors & enjoy the view)
Trixsea Posted January 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2005 I love Hemingways at the Hyatt Hotel. A little pricey but the food and view are excellent.
Urban Chic Posted January 4, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Thanx Trixsea. Where is the Hyatt located? Anywhere near the tenders? Do you know if they have a website?
Trixsea Posted January 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2005 The Hyatt is on seven mile beach. It was a $3.00 taxi ride from the tender per person. Terry
Urban Chic Posted January 4, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 4, 2005 thanx again Trixsea. Can you tell me what's on their lunch menu? Do they have a website with the lunch menu posted on it like many other places do? Chic
Trixsea Posted January 4, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2005 I know the Hyatt has a web site, but I don't know if the menu was listed. I know the menu was a variety, and I had gazpacho and a tropical fruit and lobster salad. Both were outstanding. Bloody Mary's were also very good as I recall.:D Terry
jean-lynd Posted January 4, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 4, 2005 We enjoyed the TreeHouse. I have pictures in the Voyager albums at http://community.webshots.com/user/jean_lynd that will give you an idea of what it was like. I'm not sure how far it was from the tenders because we were dropped off there on our way back from our Stingray City excursion. Some of us walked back from their and others just grabbed the city bus. I hope this helps!
Urban Chic Posted January 6, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Trixsea, The tropical fruit & lobster salad sounds like just what I am looking for:-) When did you have it? Recently? (want to be sure they have re-opened since Ivan struck). Also . . . Do they have a beach that I could hang out at for a couple hours after lunch? Thanks for your help. zydecocruiser Posted January 6, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Treehouse was destroyed by Ivan. Has not reopened yet. Once was supposed to be January, but not sure any more.
Trixsea Posted January 7, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 7, 2005 Chic, I was there in June, so I can't be much help. The restaurant is (was) right on the beach. If the hotle has reopened that I would assume the restaurant is open. Maybe the Hyatt website could help. Good luck. Terry
Rare hcat Posted January 8, 2005 #11 Share Posted January 8, 2005 Can anyone tell me if either of these are open? Paradise Reef & Cafe (purple roof) or the Big Bamboo Brew Pub? If not what else is available on the water, walkable from the pier..looking for good food but casual with a view, good drinks
case Posted January 9, 2005 #12 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Paradise Cafe is open. Big Bamboo is also open but now is called HammerHeads located in the same spot. Both are within a short walking distance of the dock.
