Casino Question - When does it Open?

I think that 12 miles out will put the ship into international waters. However, leaving port, you will not be at full speed, so it could take a couple of hours - or longer.

Sailing on VOS 5/21 out of Bayonne. When do you think the casino will open? I know it has to be a certain number of miles out - but not sure how long it takes to get that far.

the casino usually opens about half an hr after leaving port. The first day is different though. It will open later in the day because the muster drill will most likely be held first.

I always thought it was 3 miles off shore. We've done the casino boats in FL and I'm almost positive they never got as far as 12 miles out. I know that for the most part, we just stood on the deck and watched the lights of the cities pass by on shore. The odds on those boats are really bad.

I know there's some kind of difference between 3 miles out and 12 miles out, as I've heard both. Maybe the 12 miles out is for the duty-free shops. Anyone know?
