Sail N Sail Cards

When I see a blue card in the hand of someone looking confused I try to help them.

I also like seeing the joy in the faces of those that see the ship for the first time. As you are walking to the ship and you see blue cards in front of you, you just know you are going to see a look of surprise when they finally board!

I don't wear my card either. Like Mach, mine (Gold but working on it...) stays in my pocket.

We (DW and I) took our first CCL cruise in 2001 (Jubillee out of Tampa) and had a great time. For various reasons we didn't cruise again until 2004 (Holiday out of Mobile) but I distinctly remember being suprised and pleased when the nice lady at the VIP check-in desk (we had a CAT-12 for that trip) handed me my shiny gold SS card....our in-laws were with us (first cruise for them) and I noticed that the cards they got were blue. I asked about the difference and she explained it to me. I thought it was very nice that CCL would do something to recognize repeat customers.

You're exactly right and not only are we vocal we're the most loyal and generally the most experienced, regardless of line.

Carnival and RCCL both have people who's job it is to read these boards and report back so there really is a remarkable amount of influence generated by these forums...

:)

Oooh I wish it was my job. I read them all day and don't get paid for it. At least when I do it at work I'm getting paid for something

Does anyone have a picture of the new, new cards? (I have seen the old, new cards - boring. I liked the old, old cards.)

I am one of the people who loves to see the gold card in my hand. I do not wear it on a lanyard either, like others have stated. My S&S card lives in my book bag. But I feel special in my own way, and it looks really pretty in my scrapbook.

If you have a blue card that gives everyone else to throw you in the trash cans like Seniors do Freshman

FYI..... It is "Sail and Sign", not Sign and Sail.

Didn't want you to give out incorrect information. ;)

My opinion on the card issue is this. I like the new design. Do I care what color it is? Nope. I can't even tell you what other people's cards looked like on my last cruise which was my first cruise.

This summer, it was more like a Swine & sail! LOL :)

Check my post, unless they just changed them since Sept!

I still feel like that when I hear that "doink" sound and step inside the ship. I think if I lost that feeling we may find another way to spend our vacations.

First let me be blunt and honest in my "opinion" -

For those few on here who think people make a big deal out of it, if those few had 8 or 9 cruises under their own belts, they would be looking forward to "Platinum" themselves.

But I think some of us are falling prey to the I"m Platinum, I'm better than you! But I don't see it that way, I see it more as a personal accomplishment. For me, its nice to rise through all those cruises to make it to a great milestone of ten cruises.

Just like when I see peeps with their "first" card, I feel good for them, and I feel excited for them!

Ok so i was readimg the post about how the SS cards will change b/c people are complaining about how it does not show off there cruise status....Why the hell are people concerned about there status when you are on vacation on a beautiful Carnival Cruise ship and great ports. It just does not make sence to me. The only thing the card is used for is opening ur door and paying for drinks..Who cares what color it is!!!

Please tell me ur thoughts on this!!

cpacheco,

If I could choose I would choose the Red, White, and Blue cards; I like them better!

We carry our cards on Players Club lanyards simply to keep them handy. If I really cared what color our card was I would have insisted on a Platinum card on the first leg our B2B earlier this month; it was our tenth Carnival cruise. On the second leg they didn't have any cards pre printed for us and could not get the system to work so we went without for a few hours. When the system came back online we didn't have any past cruises in the system yet they knew we were not to receive Red White and Blue because we had gold cards for our first week and we were B2B. They had to load platinum cards in the Red White and Blue bin to be able to print our cards. I suggested several times that Red White and Blue was fine, but they wouldn't go along with it.

Our three boys on the other hand are really looking forward to their Platinum cards this April. Hopefully they'll get the kinks worked out of our past guest info and our boys will get their Platinum cards; if not then I will give them mine and I'll carry their cards while on the ship.

When you reach platinum status, you will notice a change in how staff greets or treats you. You say you could care less about color. Cruise enough you will.

Okay by saying this you are making it seem like if you are new to carnival you will not be treated fairly. I am platnium status and there is no change. The staff is always great and treats everyone with respect, regardless of your card color.

Nope, never said or implied the above. If your Platinum you know what I meant, if not wait till you are.

The above post is just what I am talking about! I have to wait till I hit platnium to get the crem de la crem of carnival service..my very first cruise the staff were sooo nice I don't think they could have been any more nicer, and if they were I would think they are trying to get in my pants! I find it hard to believe the staff treats u according to ur status...ummmm since this will be my second cruise coming up maybe I will get more chocolates on my pillow or maybe even a bigger towel animal!!!!!!!

When you say"you will notice a change in how staff greets or treats you" how are you not implying that cruisers that dont have platnium arent treated as good? So many cruisers have platnium, it's not a big deal. Maybe because some cruisers may think the change in card color should allow them better service, but it is not the case. Carnival cruiseline employees treat everyone the same, there is not a "class system" on the cruise ship.

I'm going to be a bit blunt as well

Just as you see some people subscribing to the "I'm platinum, I'm better" mentality, I also see people who go out of their way to claim they don't care about the color of the card, as if they want a pat on the back for not caring.

I hated the white background cards because they looked like something out of a coloring book. The almost all-white card was bland and boring. And yes, I didn't like it either because the blue, gold, and platinum was not as prominent.

Having a different color card doesn't make anyone any better or worse. I liked having a gold card - I like having a platinum card. Why is that so bad around here? I honestly don't see what's so bad about liking the card I earned.

BTW, to the poster I quoted, I wasn't directing this at you. :)

The beauty of a platinum card is the staff will bend over backwards to help you. One woman on my recent cruise was heading down to the tender area and the CD got in the elevator and literally escorted them right to the tender area!!!

My last cruise was my 40th birthday and I have to say those that knew it was my birthday were treating me exceptionally well..and my card is still gold.....I'll be platinum Sept 2010

I wish that Carnival (The Parent Corporation) would combine the total number of cruises we've taken with all the cruise lines they own to determine status (Carnival, Princess, Holland America, etc...) . Princess goes places Carnival doesn't, and sometimes I want to upgrade to a Holland America cruise. I've given Carnival (the Parent) a lot of money, but have spread it out over three different lines. I am penalized because I haven't been "loyal" to just one Carnival brand.

Love to hear thoughts on this!
