Mount Gay Rum in Barbados from Cruise Ship

My husband and I will be on the Victory departing San Juan Nov 28th and want to visit the Rum Factory on our own. Has anyone taken a cab or bus to the rum factory do you know how far it is from the port? Just wondering, any help or advise would be appreciated.

The Mount Gay Visitor's Centre is on the Spring Garden Highway which is right next to the Deep Water Harbour.

 

It's going to be (at most) a 3 - 5 minute taxi ride.

 

As for the tour, it's pretty informative and as a plus you get some rum!!

 

Just for tasting/testing purposes of course! :D

Brandons Beach -although you might also hear it referred to as Brighton Beach

(due to a residential community that fronts onto the beach)

-or Malibu Beach(because of the Malibu Rum beach-bar, up at the far/Northern end)

 

..but it's real name is Brandons.

We were there in April - someone on our cruise ship who was from Barbados encouraged us to walk to the Brandon's beach. So we did - it was about a 20 minute walk. We stopped at Mount Gay on the way back from the beach - maybe 15 minutes from the ship. I am pretty sure there were sidewalks the entire way.
