p5woody Posted October 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2009 I am leaving on the dream out of NYC on 11/23. Will they have Texas Hold'em on board? Any details would be great. Like tournament or cash, limit or no-limit, electronic or live, what are the blinds, etc.
p5woody Posted October 18, 2009 Author #2 Share Posted October 18, 2009 I found this: "Typically, there will be Slot & Texas Hold'em tournaments while you are onboard. Unlike Las Vegas casinos, Texas Hold'em onboard is an automated video game designed to speed-up play."

Fire LT Posted October 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2009 Hi Woody, I'll be at the table with (and probably my son too) as we are sailing on the Dream that week also. Hopefully they will have a tournament or two. Alan
p5woody Posted October 20, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted October 20, 2009 I found this while searching the carnival website. Click on Texas Hold'em tables and it shows you a video showing how the tables work. I would prefer a live dealer and chips, but at least I can play. http://www.carnival.com/cms/fun/playersclub/default2.aspx

Considering most people are not good poker players I find it MUCH BETTER that everything is automated. Have you ever played with someone who counts out $20 in $1 chips one by one or in 2 chip stacks EVERYTIME? This prevents that. Also that person who takes FOREVER to stack a small pot and delays looking at their cards? Keep in mind you are gonna get people playing that the wife wants to do slots and says to the husband...."hey there is that game you always watch on TV. Why don't you go play." So you will get first timers playing the game......MUCH better with electronic. Don't get me wrong....when I go to Vegas next month I want the real deal! Yes I have played with those people and I am sure the cruise would have a high precentage of them. Good luck in vegas, I am sure you will have a great time. I was out there during the main event in July. Wife and I had a great time seeing all the pros and doing some gambling of our own.
p5woody Posted October 26, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted October 26, 2009 Here is what I found out about Texas Hold'em on the Dream. This pulled straight from the sign posted on the ship. Rules & information Introducing our state of the art PokerPro table, where you play against your fellow guest. The table quickly and simply displays players' commitments and table stakes, pot amount and community cards. The table will also identify the winners at the end of each hand and immediatley add the winnings to the player's table stakes. - use your sail and sign card to set up your poker account and play - Minimum buy in is $50 - Maximum buy in is $200 - Your poker account must be cashed out at the casino cash desk prior to the casino closing on the last night of the cruise - The table and surrounding area is non-smoking - The game will be $1/$2 no limit Texas Hold'em - Sit out option is limited to 15 minutes - after 15 minutes players not returning will be unseated and the seat made available to the next player - there is a 60 minute re-buy in rule - Once you quit the game for the next 60 minutes you can not re-buy into the game for less then the table stakes you held when you quit the game - English is the only language allowed to be spoken at the table whilst playing - Casino management decison is final - Any questions please do not hesitate to ask a member of the casino staff
