LibraLass41 Posted October 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2009 we have booked the 2 night party cruise on the aurora next may.when you first board and you have been to see your cabin what eating places will be open and does the pool that as the roof on be open and if so do they heat it,on the second day we are going into bruge is it better to do a p&o trip or on our own we dont want to be out long as we want to use the ships facilities. thanks When you first board you will be directed to the self service buffet restaurant for lunch - there is no choice on embarkation and cabins won't be ready till 2pm, so the idea is you go there first and eat lunch then wait for the 'cabins are ready ' announcement which is usuallly at 2pm . If you board around 1pm this all works out very well. This procedure is the same for all cruises not just weekenders, unless you are a gold member who has a 'special goldie lunch' elsewhere. I've done two Aurora weekenders recently, one was Bruges the other Bruges and Amsterdam, . We book the afternoon 12.30-5pm trip to bruges with pando...this allows the morning for a explore of the ship after a relaxing breakfast...no need to get up too early then, if you have enjoyed your first night at sea the previous evening at a show or in the club or bars. The tour to Bruges was called Bruges at your own pace and was £24pp. A coach is waiting for you by the ship and takes you direct to bruges, where a guide onboard the coach gives you a map and a belgian chocolate, and walks you into the town from the coach drop off some 10-15mins away. You have 3 -4 hours in the town. A formal night will be on night 2 and is the same as a formal night on a longer cruise with most men in black tux and woman in long dresses or cocktail dresses. There will be a gala menu with hopefully lobster or beef wellington on and a pre-dinner welcome aboard party with a free drink or more if you are lucky. photos here from a Aurora weekender to Bruges cruise: http://picasaweb.google.com/AuroraPartyCruiseSueV/AuroraWeekenderCruiseDec06#5088430251104934082 CLICK LINK, AND DO TRY THE WAFFLES WITH MELTED BELGIAN CHOCOLATE!
