disneylover89 Posted October 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2009 We are interested in doing the fishing excursion offered on the Carnival Glory in Halifax. Has anyone ever gone fishing in Halifax? Tell me about your experience. TIA
RickT Posted November 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2009 I used to live in Halifax and went deep sea fishing a couple times. Nothing too exciting, more of an excuse to drink beer and get away from our wives :o The Atlantic can be cold and rough when the ships normally go to Halifax, not too much in the way of exotic fish either. I did find this one link however..http://www.bluesharkcharters.com/
disneylover89 Posted March 11, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted March 11, 2010 Thank You! Does anyone else have any experience with fishing in Halifax in late July?
Embracedbylife Posted March 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2010 I really don't think it's going to be the best place to go fishing. Unless you are dead set to get out on a boat, you might be better enjoying the land based tours. A drive out to Peggy's Cove is really nice! They also offer harbor tours from the waterfront, but in terms of fishing - halifax isn't a huge fishing port at all. Cape Breton has more fishing but the waters are rough! lovemylab Posted March 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2010 I used to work for a company that offered fishing charters on the Halifax waterfront. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. The waters outside the peninsula are quite rough. The majority of charters that did go resulted in very few fish and a boat full of seasick passengers. What other ports are you visiting? Perhaps one of those will be better suited for fishing.
Easternstar Posted April 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2010 Bluesharkcharters is a good lead, particulaly if there are a few of you. You could also try New Dawn Charters. Neither will go out if the conditions aren't ideal unlike the more touristy companies. There are a few more independant small boat owners. Contact vic-water@gov.ns.ca for a list.
