Cruising89143 Posted October 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2009 Yes this is the RCI board but I guess with the Oasis receiving a lot of attention, Disney has announced plans for their new ship the Disney Dream and she will have the first water coaster at sea. A lot of photos of the design of the ship. Very nice. http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/dream/

I don't do tunnels and tubes being majorly claustrophobic.:o That said, I have long wanted to try out a Disney ship and this new ship sounds very attractive. I think that Disney has the best looking ships afloat but two things turn me off. Actually three. No casino. Too many kids and too much Mickey Mouse.:)
cobbmom123 Posted October 30, 2009 #12 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I am definitely going to do this ship!!! The only cruise I've done before is Disney Wonder. I've got to ask though, what is the appeal of a casino on board? I've been to tons of casinos in my life, from Vegas to Biloxi to St.Louis. The ones on the cruise ships seem to be Biloxi level at best. I really enjoy casinos, but I honestly have no interest in the casino on the ship. I mean, I really have no use for a casino if it doesn't even offer free drinks :D!

I love the Disney ships and even without a Casino, I think the product is tops! Their ships are outstanding as well as their crew. I love the casino as much as the next gal, but honestly, for three or four days, not a problem.;):D

FreewayFortune Posted October 30, 2009 #15 Share Posted October 30, 2009 It doesn't surprise me that Disney is putting the first water coaster on a cruise ship. The Disney Imagineers do some amazing things.

Rare silentbob007 Posted October 30, 2009 #17 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Looks interesting but I'm sure I will not be willing to pay what Disney will charge to sail on her.
Rancher Dave Posted October 30, 2009 #18 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Neat design. I'd rather have the zip line though. Disney does wonders with their showplaces so I am not surprised by their new feature.
Brandis Posted October 30, 2009 #19 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Been on Disney Wonder a couple of weeks ago and liked it very much, not having a casino was a plus for me as well. Only was a bit annoyed that they still did Bingo, but luckily it was held in a lounge we didn't attend anyway. Disney Wonder was very nice and Disney Dream looks even better. Knowing that it is built by Mayer I think it will be a great ship like Brilliance. Although there were lots of kid onboard, they are mostly staying at the kids clubs and there is a lot of dedicated adults-only areas as well. cawagner Posted October 30, 2009 #20 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Wow this looks cool...saw this on the website "A cruise-industry first, every Inside Stateroom on the Disney Dream has its own outside view via a virtual porthole!" But I wouldnt go on a Disney cruise as their prices are way higher than what I am willing to pay and too many kids...oh and no casino ;)
Rala Posted October 30, 2009 #21 Share Posted October 30, 2009 The new ship looks amazing but not for me.....Disney prices are too high and I love my quarter slots!! If I want Disney, I'll go to Disney World which I LOVE !!!
Kailyn Posted October 30, 2009 #22 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I have to say the entire ship looks AWESOME! I don't have kids and I would still love to go on it. Of course, the high prices I'm sure Disney will charge will probably prevent that. I can go on Cunard for less than Disney! (and have a completely different experience, of course)
SDPadreFan Posted October 30, 2009 #23 Share Posted October 30, 2009 The clear acrylic tube is an interesting concept but I think it will be very difficult to incorporate. Think of the windows of a standard oceanview stateroom. Those are difficult to wash and so the generally don't get really clean. The same thing will happen to that clear acrylic tube. Salt spray will get on it and it will be very difficult to clean. They may be able to incorporate clear acrylic in a few specialized areas but over the entire area - I don't know. It will be interesting to watch things progress from design work to engineering practicality.
Samira0207 Posted October 30, 2009 #24 Share Posted October 30, 2009 pretty neat; i saild on Disney 3 years ago and had a great time! Too much going on to even notice there wasn't a casino.
Brandis Posted October 30, 2009 #25 Share Posted October 30, 2009 This is from the inside cabin description of Disney Wonder: Relax in private quarters fitted with warm wood finishes, custom fabrics and carpeting, original artwork, crown moldings, genuine teak accents and a virtual porthole for real-time views of the sea—plus virtual sightings of animated Disney characters!
