Thank you for this new info Colonel! We are deposited on the 32 day CapeTown to Ft Lauderdale aboard Mariner, and had no idea of the changes! Puts a whole new light on the subject:D

We're also on the Cape Town to Ft. Lauderdale cruise. Since our cruise begins in 2010, I don't think the 2011 cancellation policies apply.

I expect that our TA's will advise us of this new policy when we begin booking cruises for 2011. It would be nice to think that the new policies would stop the booking of large blocks of rooms that end up being cancelled. . . . however, I don't see how this will make much of a difference -- as long as they are cancelled prior to the cancellation deadline.

In the UK you are required to pay a deposit of 15% of the cost on booking a cruise ( 20% for World Cruiseand segments and all PG cruises), with the balance due not less than 70 days before sailing date.

You lose that deposit if you cancel up to 70 days before the cruise date, 25% 69 to 30 days, 50% 29 to 15 days and full amount if you cancel less than 14 days beforehand.

I haven't heard whether this policy has been amended for 2011.
