Hello, love your posts, for the elite, suite, platnium cocktail hour in skywalkers does it smell of smoke where they have it?

Did anyone go to the horse track or see it on St. Kitts?

Have you used the spa warm loungers?

Don't let the bugs jump any higher, need to get them to jump overboard by the time we arrive.

Thanks, Seadeck2

Hi Everyone!

The Ruby is everything we thought it would be and better. The ship is beautiful and so far is as been a really great experience.

First let’s clear up the mystery about the Sea Food buffet at sail away! Yes, yes, yes, they have it and yes it’s King crab half legs, shrimp, mussels, calamari, scallops, and rock lobster plus so much more! It begins at 5:30 pm. The internet is slow tonight so we are unable to post the pictures. I will try and get them up as soon as possible, but we have only so many minutes so we want to be able to report every night. So photos may come later.

The second thing that there seems to be much desire to know about is the Elite Lounge and who’s invited. Platinum, Elite, and Suite guests are all invited.

Tonight’s show was the “Welcome Aboard Showtime” with the Ruby Singers & Dancers. It was good and gave you a sampling of everything going on during our 10 nights. This was the first of 3 new shows that presented on this cruise and was worth going to.

Dinner seatings for Traditional are 6:00 pm and 8:15 pm and are only in the Botticelli dining room.

Anytime Dining is your choice of either the Da Vinci or Michelangelo dining rooms and you can go anytime from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm

There are 2 wine tasting events. The first will be this Friday and it is $25 pp and includes 5 outstanding wines. Not sure when the second is but it is 9.95 pp and has lower category wines. My recommendation is go to the first one.

Door decorations are staying up so far and our cabin stewards have seen them and like them.

Each night we will copy and paste your posts and the next night we will answer as many as we can.

To our family members who are reading this, we miss you and wish you were here!

We are on our way to Princess Cays and will report more tomorrow night about the bungalow experience.

Nighty night and sweet dreams everyone!!

Ziggy & Janice :D

I'll be on the Ruby again next month. Say hello to Janice for me. How is everyone else, Hanna, Mike, Reggie, Rita, Judy, etc?

I am new to this thread as I have only sailed on the Diamond Princess in 04 and the Coral Princess in 08. I have to ask this question even if it is a dumb ? What is the santuary?? I am really enjoying your review and we are looking into sailing Princess again. I love our 3 ships we have in Galveston, but how many times can you sail them. My DH and I need a change. Keep up the review.

I just thought of a question for you and future Ruby cruisers. When we did that itinerary on the Emerald last year, we saw crew members using free wi-fi in Grenada's port terminal building. Can you just take note if you see any of the crew with their laptops in any terminal buildings? We've learned that the crew is the best resource for internet questions in port. Thanks! (We want to use wi-fi on land to send photos from our iPhones to family members).

I was on the last Ruby sailing, and I did see crew using laptops in the terminal in Grenada. There is not really the same type of terminal in Aruba and no terminal at all in Bonaire or Dominica. I heard one of the crew say that there was a place in downtown St. Thomas that they all used for free internet, but I don't know where it was.

And I'm in B755 on the 24th. I'd like to know too. I might call princess and ask them why they aren't treating this seriously.

Liz you know we're in the "same boat" (B754), so let us know if you find anything out.

Don't let the bed bugs bite ... too much.

Hi Everyone,

This is Janice posting. For those of you who have cruised with me before and know how I lose my voice the last 2 days of a cruise, it has happened again. I was hoping that a 10 night cruise would be different but that, going from the heat outside to the AC instead plays havoc with my voice. For some strange reason my hubby seems to have really like the last 2 days of a cruise. LOL

On Monday 11/9, we went with Captain Jason on the Shasa Catamaran in Barbados. It was a wonderful excursion of swimming with the sea turtles and snorkeling over a reef. Jason took us to a private area to swim with the turtles and we were the only boat there. Jason is a wonderful, funny, and informative guide and we all would highly recommend booking with him. He was born and raised on Barbados as was his wife Tess and his rum punch is the best we have ever tasted. More on this excursion when we write our reviews.

On Tuesday 11/10, we went with Spencer Ambrose on a tour of St. Lucia. He is an outstanding guide and took us all over the island and then to Jalousie Beach for beach time and snorkeling. Lunch and beverages were included and he will personalize your tour for what you want to see and do. This is the most beautiful island we went to and the vegetation is incredible. You can read more about this Spencer, the tour, and the island in our reviews after we get back.

On Wednesday 11/11 we were in Antigua and we took a tour of the island with Lawrence of Antigua. We chose to go Long Bay Beach instead of the usual Turner Beach and it is a beautiful place. It was a very good tour and we will fill in all the details in our reviews.

Today is Thursday 11/12 and it is formal night. This morning Ziggy, Jim, Willie, and I received a fabulous unexpected surprise but we will tell you all about this in our reviews. We can assure you that the wait will be worth your while!!

We are now off to scout out a slot machine for our slot pull, that will be tomorrow morning. Having a terrific time and we love the Ruby Princess.

From Ziggy:

Message has been delivered to Chris! Prayers to you all!

Kathleen, yes dinner would be nice as long as its at the Martini Bed & No Breakfast Inn :P We miss you too!!!!

Cabin with bug trouble has been cleared up and there are no farther reports on the ship, so no worries everyone!

Many in the group passed around the cold thing but all seems well now!

Answers to questions:

  • There is only 1 non-smoking night in the Casino and it is at the beginning of the cruise. When you walk into the casino, the area toward the tables seems to have the least smokers.

  • You can get cash from the cashier but it will cost you 3% to put it on your sail n’ sign. You can get it for free by doing it through a slot machine.

  • They do not have escargot or crab legs on the menu anymore. But we did ask our Maitre D’ Francisco and he brought us escargot for 3 nights in a row. He has taken very good care of our table and has been a joy to deal with.

  • We got the Princess coupon books by booking our cruise during a special promotion.

  • They no longer develop and print film on the ship. They will print digital photos and can also download them onto a CD for you.

Thanks everyone for your kind words! Hope we were able to help a little! We will finish our question answers when we get home and post some long awaited photos.

It doesn’t look good for Janice & I to be driving the ship! But I think by the Captain’s expression to me when asking “pretty please can we drive the Ruby”, we still might have a chance hehehehe!

Hugs and blessings,

Ziggy & Janice

Just walk down the main street - you will soon see people (mostly young) sprawled all over the place typing on their keyboards.

Hint - you've found it!

We set up the meeting place with Renee Wittwer – Onboard coordinator for the Ruby Princess. Her email is rwittwer@princesscruises.com . As for the staff, I wrote personal letters inviting them indivually.

Hm - is Renee actually ONBOARD the Ruby? Or does she coordinate through the main office in California?

Just checking in on everyone. It sounds like you've had a wonderful vacation with some really great excursions. We did the same turtles & reef excursion as you when in Barbados and it was one of our favorites.

I hope everyone has a great final night on the Ruby and a safe trip home tomorrow!

Glad to hear the bugs have been banished.

Janice, my hubby would get sick about the third or fourth day of every cruise until he started avoiding the ship's water. Some sort of respiratory thingy. He would even make his own coffee or tea in the cabin with bottled water. Has made the difference and he didn't get sick at all on our 15 day cruise.

Very sweet photos of you and Jim and your dad.
